Rushan Shrestha, 24, young, energetic, charming, dynamic and is a heartthrob of many Nepalese girls, vocalist/ guitarist and a banker by profession. Very popular among youngsters and have that immense love for music with a strong determination to do something regarding this field. We had a fascinating conversation with him. You guys must be excited to know as well? Enjoy!!

  • What is the first song ever sung you remembered?

Well, I remember two songs.  The first song was “Let it be” by the Beatles which my school music teacher taught us on our music class when I was in grade 1 or 2. And another song was “Deurali ko Chautari ma.” Both of them were my favorite… (smiles)

  • Who is your musical inspiration? Favorite bands/singers?

Well talking about that, I m very inspired by many senior Nepali as well as International artists but honestly speaking I was genuinely inspired by my brothers who were musicians back then. I used to watch them sing, play, practice and wished to be like them when I grow old ( Thulo bhaye pachi ma pani estate hunch ). (winks)
Practically inspiration for me right now is Kutumba. Since our practice room is together, we get to learn many things from them. From Discipline to Team Work to various Ideas regarding Music and many more suggestions.
I like Albatross, Sabin Rai, Edge Band, Kings of Leon, Pink Floyd…..etc.

  • Which genre of music are you good at?

My band Kramasha is a Rock Band. And I think Rock is what I was meant for. We have been doing many Stage shows including Acoustic shows as well, where sometimes we cannot express what we want but whatever the situation be we never stop to Rock.
We have been working on our original Songs as well, and I believe we have expressed the Rock feeling on it. However, we also have some Melodic Soft rock numbers as well. (smiles)

  • If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?
  • My musical career started with the Metal Genre. So If I had to dabble in another genre of music, it would be metal again. (smiles)

  • What specific song strikes on your mind whatever you see an attractive girl? How will you impress her? This question is quite funny and exciting. (laughs)

However, if I had to impress a girl with a song, then I would just choose a Hindi number. This is a sad but true fact because most of the girls I have met love Hindi songs more than Nepali or any other songs. (That’s very sad thing actually)
So if I had to impress a girl I would sing a beautiful Hindi number for her .

  • What embarrassing songs might I find in your playlist?

(laughs) There are some Hindi songs which I don’t like, and maybe I will get embarrassed when someone sees it on my playlist. But being an artist, sometimes I have to sing songs which I don’t like.

  • What are specific songs there in your playlist that you never listen but never delete it too?

There are a few songs which I along with my friends composed a long time ago. We used to sing those songs almost every day, and we still do. We roughly recorded it and is still on my playlist. But I never listen to it nor do I delete it. I still play and sing those songs, but I don’t listen to it, and I don’t have any reason for that…. (smiles)

  • Did you have to make any struggle regarding family support?

My family is very supportive. I have never faced any family issues regarding music. They have supported me in every possible way, whether it be moral support or be it financial support. (smiles)

  • What is the best advice ever given to you?

“Hami bandha dammi ko cha???  Koi chain” maybe the best advice by a brother who supports my band more than anything else. He created a feeling on us that whatever the situation, you should always believe that you are the best. You should be confident and trust yourself. Don’t compare. (smiles)

  • What else can we expect from you in the future?

All I can promise is in coming future I would love to create more good music, good songs with my band and want our audience to enjoy our tunes. This year kramasha is coming with a new album. (smiles)

  • If not a singer, what would you be?

I always wanted to be a musician and now I m doing what I want. I also work in a bank. I m a BBA graduate and I m planning to continue my further studies. If not singer maybe I would just be a banker and a student. But In the future, I would love to do something related to music. (sighs)

  • Any specific message you want to give to the readers?

If you love music, then do support musicians. We feel pleased and motivated when people appreciate us and our music. All we need is your love and support.
And finally, “Malai Momo ekdam monarchy ” (winks)
