This day is celebrated with devotion to Goddess Mahalaxmi, signifying the end of the 15-day Bada Dashain festival and welcoming prosperity and wealth into households.

On 6th October 2025, devotees across Nepal observe Kojagrat Purnima with evening Mahalaxmi puja and night-long vigils, following age-old traditions.

According to the Nepal Panchang Nirnayak Bikash Samiti, all essential rituals, including Akhil Balipurti, must be performed on this day. Completing these rituals ensures spiritual merit and fulfills religious obligations.

After the Akhil Balipurti, the practice of receiving Tika and Jamara from elders, which began on Vijaya Dashami, concludes. The sacred Jamara is immersed in rivers, ponds, or other holy water sites, completing the Dashain festivities.

Among the three forms of Goddess Durga, Mahalaxmi is worshiped today, making Kojagrat Purnima the official conclusion of the Durga Paksha.

This full moon, also called Kaumudi, holds special significance as it marks the final day of Durga worship and prosperity rituals. Additionally, devotees also worship Indra riding an elephant, symbolizing divine blessings and protection.

Kojagrat Purnima 2025 is a day of devotion, celebration, and cultural significance, connecting Nepalese families to centuries-old traditions and spiritual practices.
