SADBL Cardless Cash Withdrawal
This modern feature is designed to deliver convenience and an enhanced customer experience by providing an alternative, secure method for accessing funds without the need for a physical VISA Debit Card.
This service allows customers who are registered for the bank’s mobile banking platform, and specifically have the fund transfer feature enabled, to utilize their smartphone as a digital proxy for their debit card. This innovation caters directly to the modern necessity for multiple, readily available service channels, eliminating the inconvenience of being without a physical card.
Prerequisites and Transaction Limits
To utilize the Cardless Cash Withdrawal service, the customer must meet two fundamental requirements:
Mobile Banking Registration: The customer must be an active user of the Shangri-la Development Bank Mobile Banking application.
Fund Transfer Enabled: The mobile banking profile must have the fund transfer feature activated, as this capability is essential for initiating the withdrawal request.
The bank has established clear financial parameters for the service to ensure responsible use and security:
- Minimum Withdrawal Amount: The lowest amount that can be requested per transaction is NPR 500.
- Maximum Withdrawal Amount: The highest amount that can be withdrawn per transaction is NPR 25,000.
- Maximum Daily Withdrawal: The daily limit for Cardless Withdrawals is typically capped at NPR 100,000 (as per general mobile banking transaction limits for the service type), and the maximum transaction count is limited to 10 transactions per day.
Step-by-Step Instructions for Cardless Withdrawal
The Cardless Cash Withdrawal process is a two-phase operation, beginning on the customer’s mobile device and concluding at any Shangri-la ATM.
Phase 1: Initiating the Request on Mobile Banking
- Login: The customer must first log in to the Shangri-la Development Bank Mobile Banking app, ensuring an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
- Select Option: Navigate to and select the Cardless Withdraw option within the app interface.
- Enter Details: Enter the desired withdrawal amount (must be between NPR 500 and NPR 25,000) and select the account number to be debited. Tap Submit.
- Confirm and Authenticate: Review the amount and account number carefully, and then confirm the transaction. The user is then prompted to enter their Mobile Banking PIN.
- OTP Generation: Upon successful authentication with the PIN, a One-Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the customer’s registered mobile number. This OTP is the crucial security token needed for the second phase.
Phase 2: Completing the Transaction at the ATM
- ATM Selection: Go to the nearest Shangri-la ATM and look for the specific option on the screen.
- Start Transaction: Select Cardless Transaction (or a similar option like Cardless Withdrawal).
- Language: Choose the preferred language (e.g., English or Nepali).
- Input Credentials: The user must accurately enter their registered mobile number, followed by the exact same amount that was entered in the mobile banking app during the initiation phase.
- OTP Verification: Finally, enter the OTP received on the mobile phone.
- Cash Collection: If all information matches exactly—the mobile number, the withdrawal amount, and the OTP—the ATM will process the request, and the customer can collect their cash.
Security and Convenience Factors
The Cardless Cash Withdrawal service offers significant security benefits. By eliminating the need for a physical card at the ATM, it mitigates the risk of card skimming or theft. The multi-factor authentication process—requiring a mobile login PIN on the phone and a time-sensitive OTP at the ATM—provides a higher layer of security than a traditional single-factor PIN entry. The bank emphasizes that the ATM will not dispense cash if any information is incorrect, ensuring the funds remain safe.
This service is a perfect example of modern banking prioritizing the customer journey, providing a quick, secure, and highly convenient alternative for cash access, further cementing the role of mobile banking as the central point of a customer’s financial relationship with the bank.
