In the highly competitive 2025 ranking, MetLife secured the tenth position globally, underscoring its commitment to fostering an exceptional corporate environment.
This significant international award is bestowed upon only 25 companies worldwide, recognizing organizations that demonstrate excellence in creating high-trust, high-performing cultures on a global scale. MetLife’s consistent presence on this list reflects the successful execution of its employee-centric strategies across its extensive global operations.
The Basis of the Prestigious Recognition
Fortune compiles the World’s Best Workplaces list in partnership with the research firm Great Place to Work. The selection process involves a rigorous, data-backed methodology centered on the direct experiences and feedback of millions of employees globally.
The key criteria for evaluation focus on several core aspects:
Employee Satisfaction and Trust: The ranking is based on the analysis of more than 9 million survey responses, representing the work experiences of over 25 million employees worldwide. Companies are assessed on measures of employee trust, pride, and camaraderie.
Workplace Quality and Culture: The evaluation focuses on the company’s efforts to create an inclusive environment and advance workplace practices across multiple countries, ensuring a supportive and engaging culture for all employees.
Corporate Responsibility and Impact: The assessment also considers the company’s responsible corporate culture and its positive influence on local communities, society, and customers across its global footprint.
Global Consistency: To be eligible, companies must have 5,000 or more global employees and must have already been recognized on at least five Best Workplaces lists in various regions (Asia, Europe, Latin America, etc.) in the preceding year.
MetLife’s high ranking demonstrates its ability to outperform peers in creating an exceptional employee experience across the more than 40 countries where it operates, including its significant presence in markets like Nepal.
Driving Culture Through the New Frontier Strategy
MetLife President and CEO Michel Khalaf highlighted that the company’s repeated recognition is a direct reflection of the dedication of its employees and the success of its forward-looking initiatives.
According to CEO Khalaf, MetLife is actively working to build a thriving culture through its recently unveiled New Frontier Growth Strategy. This new five-year strategy builds on the successful execution of the previous “Next Horizon” strategy and is focused on strong growth and attractive returns by leveraging its competitive strengths.
Crucially, the New Frontier strategy emphasizes creating a culture where every employee can reach their full potential and contribute to a prosperous future for all stakeholders. The strategic pillars of this plan include:
Prioritizing Responsible Growth: Focusing on growth at lower risk across key areas like Group Benefits and International Markets, particularly in high-growth regions like Latin America and Asia.
Investing in People: The strategy is explicitly linked to Energizing Our People, with a focus on a purpose-driven and inclusive culture, talent development, and professional growth opportunities.
This focus on internal culture is seen as a crucial enabler for the company to achieve its ambitious external financial goals, which include double-digit adjusted Earnings Per Share (EPS) growth and an adjusted Return on Equity (ROE) target of 15 percent to 17 percent.
MetLife’s Global Footprint and Commitment
Founded in 1868, MetLife is one of the world’s leading financial services companies, providing a diverse suite of services including insurance, annuities, employee benefits, and asset management. Its recognition as a top global employer solidifies its reputation as a company that prioritizes its workforce while maintaining a long history of providing responsible service to its customers and the communities it serves worldwide, including in Nepal.
The success of MetLife in this ranking serves as an example of how investing in people and fostering a strong, inclusive workplace culture directly translates into superior global performance and long-term value creation.
