IME Pay has issued a critical announcement urging all its users to immediately migrate their accounts to Khalti, confirming the impending complete deactivation of the IME Pay platform.

This migration is the direct result of a landmark strategic move in the Nepali fintech sector: the merger of the two major digital wallet providers, IME Pay and Khalti. The unified entity, now officially operating under the name IME Khalti Limited, is consolidating all operations under the enhanced Khalti brand.
Key Migration Mandate and Deactivation Deadline
The central message from the company is the mandatory and urgent need for all existing IME Pay customers to transfer their digital assets and profiles to the unified platform to ensure the continuity of their digital financial services.
Migration Requirement: Users are explicitly requested to migrate their IME Pay accounts to Khalti immediately to ensure seamless continuation of all transactions, bill payments, and fund transfers.
Deactivation Deadline: The migration process is expected to be finalized by the end of Kartik 2082. Crucially, IME Pay has issued a warning that after Kartik 30, 2082, all transactions on the IME Pay platform will be completely deactivated. This firm deadline necessitates immediate user action to avoid losing access to their funds and services.
This consolidation, which began integrated operations from Shrawan 1 (mid-July), has resulted in the creation of Nepal’s largest digital wallet in terms of both customer base and paid-up capital.

The amalgamation of IME Pay and Khalti is not a measure to avert financial failure but a strategic move that received final approval from the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Expanded Ecosystem: Operating under the new entity, IME Khalti Limited, the platform now serves over 12.7 million users and possesses a paid-up capital exceeding NPR 540 million. The combined entity promises a single, seamless, and feature-rich digital payment experience, promoting greater financial inclusion across Nepal.
Seamless Transfer: The migration process is designed to be user-friendly, allowing the automatic transfer of a user’s wallet balance, accrued interest, transaction history, KYC details, and reward points (which are converted into Daaami Points) from the old IME Pay account to the new Khalti account.

For users who have not yet migrated, the process involves logging into the Khalti app, selecting the “Merge with IME” option, and following the subsequent steps for verification and data transfer. Users who were KYC-verified on either platform will not need to verify their KYC again.
