Corporate History and Investment Focus
Shiv Shankar Hydro Investment Limited is the result of a strategic consolidation within the investment sector, giving it a combined strength and a focused investment vision.
Merger Background: The company was established through the merger of two entities: Shiv Shankar Investment and Jai Ganesh Investment. This merger created a unified investment vehicle with greater capital capacity and a diversified portfolio base.
Investment Portfolio: The company focuses its investment activities mainly in hydropower, infrastructure, and other productive sectors of the Nepalese economy. This strategic focus aligns with the nation’s priority sectors for economic development and infrastructure build-out.
Hydropower Holdings: The company has made significant investments in several operational hydropower projects, providing it with a stable foundation of returns. These include stakes in major projects such as:
- Sanigad Hydro Limited (38.46 MW)
- Kalanga Hydro Limited (15.33 MW)
- Bungad Hydro Limited (10.7 MW)
- Vision Energy & Power Limited (57.5 MW)
This portfolio composition is viewed as a strength, providing exit opportunities post-lock-in expiry and positioning the company to benefit from the growing energy market in Nepal.
Regulatory Status and Financial Health
The company’s journey toward the public offering is proceeding through the necessary regulatory channels and is supported by a stable financial profile.
SEBON Pipeline: The company’s IPO application is currently in the SEBON pipeline, indicating that the application has been filed and is undergoing review by the regulatory body. Recent SEBON updates confirm that the application, showing an issue size of 2.1 million shares, was filed in Baisakh 2082, with subsequent updates provided to the board.
Credit Rating: Care Ratings Nepal Limited (CRNL) has assigned the issuer rating of ‘CARE-NP BB (Is)’ to Shiv Shankar Hydro Investment Limited. This rating signifies a moderate risk of default regarding the timely servicing of financial obligations in Nepal.
Debt Position: The company has maintained a strong financial position, with its operations being debt-free as of the latest reporting in mid-July 2024. This debt-free structure enhances its appeal to potential investors by reducing financial risk.
Upon successful completion of the IPO, the company’s paid-up capital is projected to reach approximately NPR 1.05 billion, substantially increasing its financial capacity to undertake new, large-scale investment opportunities within its core sectors.
