The award was conferred on the UK–Nepal International Skills Partnership, in which FNCCI is a key partner, for its significant impact on education and contribution to UN Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
Award Announcement: The award was announced on October 28, 2025, during the Going Global 2025 Conference held in London.
Recipients: The FNCCI, along with other Nepali stakeholders like the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI), was honored for this multi-institutional partnership. The UK partners included institutions like Exeter College and Outsourcery Services LLP.

He later handed over the award to FNCCI Director General Gokarna Raj Awasthi during the official launch of Nepal’s first-ever Green Skills Advisory Board (GSAB).
Significance: Secretary Paudel emphasized that the recognition signifies the strength of the partnership between Nepal and the United Kingdom, setting high expectations for future progress in developing a workforce ready for the green economy.
Key Achievement: Green Skills Advisory Board (GSAB)
The central achievement recognized by the award is the successful establishment of the Green Skills Advisory Board (GSAB), a pioneering public-private collaboration mechanism in Nepal.
Purpose: The GSAB is a high-level body established to address the green skills gap by linking the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) system directly with the demands of a sustainable job market.
Stakeholders: The Board brings together a diverse range of high-level stakeholders, including:
- Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST)
- Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT)
- Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI)
- Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI)
- Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN)
Mandate: The GSAB’s mandate is to drive more relevant, sustainable green skills training, guide policy on environmentally friendly training, and promote employment opportunities in sectors like sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and eco-friendly construction.
FNCCI’s Role and Commitment to Green Skills
The FNCCI’s involvement highlights the crucial role of the private sector in driving the green transition by defining the demand for skills and ensuring curriculum relevance.
Public–Private Collaboration: FNCCI represents the private sector’s voice, ensuring that the skills and training being developed by the TVET system align with employer expectations and the emerging needs of the green economy.
Advocacy and Services: FNCCI has demonstrated its commitment through initiatives like establishing a Green Growth Advisory Service at its secretariat with technical assistance from the International Labour Organization (ILO). This service focuses on advocating for sustainable practices, organizing awareness campaigns, and assisting in the development of green economy strategies.
Long-term Vision: By participating in the GSAB and winning this award, FNCCI is reinforcing its commitment to ensuring that Nepali youth are prepared for green jobs, thereby transforming the workforce and accelerating Nepal’s transition toward a more sustainable and resilient economy.
The Going Global Partnership Award, presented on its fifth anniversary, celebrates effective, exceptional, and inspiring projects delivered through institutional collaboration supported by the British Council, underscoring the success of the UK-Nepal partnership in making Nepal’s workforce future-ready.
