The company provided a significant donation of NPR 15 million to the government-established Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund.
This substantial contribution, stemming from the company’s commitment to Nepal Life Insurance CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), aims to fund the repair and rebuilding of public infrastructure damaged during the recent Gen Z protests and movements that took place on Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082.
Official Handover Ceremony
The formal handover occurred today, Mangsir 15, 2082 (December 1, 2025), at a special ceremony held at the Ministry of Finance.
NLIC’s delegation, including Chairman of the Board Govinda Lal Sanghai, Director Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal, and Chief Executive Officer Pravin Raman Parajuli, jointly presented the check for one crore fifty lakh rupees to the Honorable Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal.
This official event highlights the partnership between the private financial sector and the government in national development.
Focusing on Digital and Economic Recovery
While the protests caused widespread damage to various public structures, the focus of recovery must include critical digital infrastructure.
The Reconstruction Fund is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including economic revitalization, relief efforts, and rebuilding damaged physical assets.
Damage to public IT centers, telecommunication relays, and fiber optic lines can severely impede economic activity and must be prioritized for quick restoration. NLIC’s support will actively contribute to the swift return of digital services and promote digital economic recovery.
Leadership Commits to Ongoing Support
During the handover ceremony, NLIC Chairman Govinda Lal Sanghai addressed the gathering. He emphasized that Nepal Life has always championed various initiatives under its comprehensive corporate social responsibility program.
Mr. Sanghai expressed his satisfaction in assisting the reconstruction efforts following the significant damage caused to public physical structures during the protests.
“Nepal Life is proud to support the government in rebuilding the infrastructure that is vital for our society and economy,” Mr. Sanghai stated. “We are committed to providing this kind of assistance in the future.”
He also urged the government to continue initiating various programs for socio-economic and physical transformation, assuring that the company remains eager to collaborate and contribute actively.
Finance Minister Praises Private Sector Initiative
Honorable Finance Minister Rameshwar Prasad Khanal extended his sincere gratitude for the donation provided by Nepal Life Insurance. The Minister acknowledged the crucial role of such contributions in Nepal’s infrastructure development.
He stated that this support strengthens the country’s capacity to bounce back from unforeseen events and expressed his hope for continued partnership with the private sector. The Minister underscored that private-sector cooperation is vital for sustainable economic growth and resilience.
CSR: A Growing Trend in Nepali Finance
This major donation underscores the increasing importance of CSR within Nepal’s large financial institutions. For companies like NLIC, contributing to national recovery efforts is not just a gesture of goodwill but a strategic commitment to the stability of the operating environment.
By allocating funds for infrastructure and economic relief, the company reinforces its dedication to the broader social welfare. This commitment extends beyond providing insurance services, demonstrating a holistic approach to corporate citizenship. This massive contribution highlights how large corporations are taking responsibility.
The Role of Insurers in National Development
As a leading life insurance company, NLIC plays a pivotal role in mobilizing long-term capital. These funds are often invested in government bonds and large infrastructure projects.
Therefore, its direct contribution to the Reconstruction Fund is a natural extension of its operational mandate. The NPR 15 million helps ensure that the foundation for a stable, secure, and digitally connected future is quickly restored across the country.
