In collaboration with Nepal’s telecom operators, the company has supported the evolution of services from 2G and 3G to 4G, while also delivering solutions in data centers, ICT infrastructure, network development, smartphones, and consumer electronics.
Beyond infrastructure, Huawei has placed strong emphasis on human capital development, recognizing skilled talent as a cornerstone of Nepal’s digital future. Through structured initiatives, the company has been supporting the development of a skilled ICT workforce aligned with national digital priorities.
A key initiative under this commitment is Huawei Nepal’s “Seeds for the Future” program, launched in Nepal in 2019. The program is Huawei’s global corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at nurturing young ICT talent, promoting digital innovation, and developing future technology leaders.
Since its launch, the Seeds for the Future program has trained 49 Nepali students through international cultural and technological exchange programs held in China, Thailand, and Singapore, both physically and virtually.
In addition, more than 170 students in Nepal have benefited from local training and digital skill development activities. Globally, the program—first launched in Thailand in 2008—has benefited over 19,000 students from more than 140 countries.
In 2025, five outstanding Nepali students were selected to join more than 65 international participants from over 10 countries in the global Seeds for the Future program. During the program, students participated in hands-on ICT training sessions on 5G, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, gaining practical insights into emerging technologies shaping the digital economy.
The participants also explored Huawei Smart PV solutions, learning how solar energy combined with intelligent power management is enabling sustainable cities and industrial operations. Exposure to smart governance models demonstrated how AI is being integrated into systematic governance to improve efficiency and citizen-centric services.
Students gained insights into drone technology and autonomous systems, understanding their real-world applications in agriculture, disaster management, and public services. They were also introduced to China’s innovation ecosystem through InnoX Academy, which showcased how startups are nurtured, scaled, and supported.
The program further included roundtable discussions with global leaders, encouraging critical thinking, innovation, and leadership. Visits to innovation hubs such as Songshan Lake, Xi Village, Bantian Campus, and the Darwin Exhibition Hall offered firsthand exposure to technologies shaping the future. A reflection session with senior leadership helped students consolidate learning and personal growth from the journey.
Beyond technical exposure, participants highlighted the value of connecting with peers from around the world, exchanging ideas, and building cross-cultural friendships.
Huawei Nepal implements the Seeds for the Future program in collaboration with leading universities, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and UNESCO as a strategic partner, ensuring alignment with national youth empowerment and digital development policies.
