Nepal Telecom (NT), the nation’s leading telecommunication service provider, officially celebrated its 22nd Anniversary today at its central office and various provincial directorates across the country.

Bridging the Digital Divide

The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, lauded the company’s efforts in reducing the “Digital Divide” and expanding communication access to rural areas. He emphasized that Nepal Telecom’s infrastructure is vital for strengthening the relationship between the government and citizens through e-governance.

Ms. Lakshmi Kumari Basnet, Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, highlighted the need for the company to focus on Tele-health, Tele-medicine, and Tele-education to improve the quality of life for the Nepalese people.

Technical Milestones: 4G Expansion and 5G Prospects

Deputy Managing Director Rajendra Aryal shared key organizational updates:

4G/LTE Coverage: Now available in 749 local levels across all 77 districts.

5G Deployment: The proposal for 5G services is currently in the final review stage.

Infrastructure: Completion of Data Center construction and billing system upgrades is underway to enhance user experience.
