The Government of Nepal has officially secured a 40 million US dollar (approximately NPR 5.87 billion) loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to spearhead the nation’s technological modernization.

For the first time in South Asia, a digital transformation initiative of this scale is being supported through a strategic bilateral partnership between the ADB and the World Bank. Arnaud Cauchois, the ADB Country Director for Nepal, emphasized that in the current global climate, digital transformation is a prerequisite for competitiveness. He noted that by lowering the cost of doing business and increasing government responsiveness, Nepal can create a much more dynamic environment for private sector growth and innovation.
