NEPSE CEO Chudamani Chapagain Honored With Koshi Excellence Award

In a significant move to honor financial leadership and institutional reform, Chudamani Chapagain, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), has been awarded the Koshi Excellence Award 2026 in the Capital Market category.

The award was presented by Hikmat Kumar Karki, the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, during a high-profile ceremony held at Hotel Soalty Westend, Itahari.
Organized by the Nayan Media Foundation, the event recognized Chapagain’s relentless dedication to the structural improvement and modernization of Nepal’s secondary market.
A Career Defined by Resilience and Expertise
Chudamani Chapagain’s journey to the helm of NEPSE is a story of academic excellence and professional perseverance. Born on Poush 16, 2033 BS, in Shivasatakshi, Jhapa, Chapagain rose from a modest background to become one of the most influential figures in the Nepalese financial sector.
Academic Foundation: After completing his SLC from Jan Adarsha Secondary School in 2050 BS, he balanced work and study, eventually earning a Master’s degree in Finance.
Diverse Financial Background: Before he was appointed NEPSE CEO in early 2025, Chapagain held leadership roles in both the banking and insurance sectors, including a notable tenure as Deputy General Manager at Sanima Reliance Insurance.
Current Institutional Roles: Beyond NEPSE, he currently serves as the Chairman of CDS and Clearing Limited and holds board positions at the Citizen Investment Trust (CIT) and the Investor Protection Fund.
