Speaking at an event in Kathmandu, Minister Gurung emphasized that the government is shifting away from importing essential gear and is instead focusing on domestic production.
Key Highlights of the Initiative
Rural Industrialization: The proposed factory will be established in rural areas outside the capital to decentralize industry and provide direct employment to villagers.
Economic Impact: By producing uniforms locally, the government aims to boost the domestic economy, create jobs, and ensure the timely availability of quality gear for security personnel.
Self-Reliance: “If we produce uniforms ourselves, we develop our own industry and ensure that essential supplies reach our officers without delay,” the Minister stated.
Focus on Police Nutrition and Welfare
Beyond logistics, Minister Gurung also addressed the working conditions and nutrition of Nepal Police personnel. Acknowledging that officers work day and night under high pressure, he stressed the urgent need for better facilities and improved dietary standards.
He confirmed that the Ministry has already processed the necessary documentation regarding these welfare improvements. “The file has moved forward from the Ministry, and we are now ready to take this into the implementation phase,” Gurung added.
