A high-level delegation from the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), led by President Ritu Singh Vaidya, recently held separate strategic meetings with the Honorable Finance Minister, Dr. Swarnim Wagle, and the Honorable Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Shri Sunil Lamsal.

The delegation extended its congratulations to the newly appointed ministers while presenting a comprehensive roadmap aimed at addressing the structural and policy-level challenges currently facing the Nepalese automobile and mobility sectors.
Collaborative Dialogue with Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle
During the meeting at the Ministry of Finance, President Vaidya highlighted the critical role of the automotive industry in Nepal’s economy. The NAIMA delegation presented formal policy suggestions focusing on:
Fiscal Policy Reform: Rationalizing customs duties and taxation structures to stabilize the market.
Monetary Support: Discussing the impact of current liquidity constraints and interest rates on vehicle financing.
Sustainable Transition: Ensuring long-term policy consistency for the growth of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Nepal.
Dr. Wagle acknowledged the association’s concerns, noting the government’s interest in balancing economic stability with industrial growth.
Consultation with Transport Minister Sunil Lamsal
Following the meeting with the Finance Minister, the NAIMA representatives met with Honorable Minister Sunil Lamsal to discuss the functional and infrastructural aspects of the sector. Key discussion points included:

Regulatory Streamlining: Simplifying vehicle registration and renewal processes through digital transformation.
