Chairman Wang Chuanfu Unveils BYD’s 9-Minute Ultra-Fast Charging Tech
8th April 2026, Kathmandu
Leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD has officially introduced its groundbreaking “Flash Charging” technology, setting a new global standard for charging efficiency.
Chairman Wang Chuanfu Unveils
Unveiled by Chairman Wang Chuanfu, this innovative system allows vehicles to charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes, effectively eliminating the “charging wait” that has long been a hurdle for EV adoption.
According to technical specifications released by the company, the system utilizes high-voltage power and the new Blade Battery 2.0 to bypass traditional charging limits. The technology is designed to be resilient in various climates, achieving peak speeds even in extreme conditions.
A Coffee Break for 600 Kilometers
The efficiency of BYD’s Flash Charging is being compared to daily routines. “In the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee, your car will be ready to travel another 600 kilometers,” the company stated during a recent demonstration.
For the high-end Denza Z9 GT model, the technology can even support a 1,000 km drive after a brief charging session.
The infrastructure behind this technology acts as a massive energy storage facility, functioning like a giant power bank. It stores electricity during off-peak hours and delivers high-power bursts to vehicles without straining the local power grid.
Strategic Infrastructure: 20,000 Stations by Year-End
Wang Chuanfu, Chairman of BYD, highlighted the strategic leap: “Our ‘Flash Charging’ achieves a 10-fold improvement in power utilization compared to standard public charging stations.”
To support this advancement, BYD has embarked on an aggressive rollout plan:
- 20,000 Flash Charging Stations are scheduled to be operational across China by the end of 2026.
- In major urban centers, the goal is to have a station accessible every five kilometers.
- The company recently achieved a milestone: deploying 5,000 stations in a single month, covering nearly 300 cities.
China’s Leading EV Ecosystem
The launch coincides with a surge in China’s national infrastructure. As of early 2026, the country has exceeded 21 million charging units, a nearly 50% year-on-year increase.
This robust network currently supports over 40 million new energy vehicles (NEVs), solidifying the region’s position as the world leader in the transition to green energy and smart mobility.
