Garima Dual ISO Certifications Milestone
The bank has successfully secured ISO 9001:2015 for its Quality Management System and ISO 27001:2022 for its Information Security Management System.
With this achievement, Garima Bikas Bank joins an elite group of financial institutions in the Nepalese banking sector to hold dual international certifications simultaneously, marking a new era of trust and operational excellence.
Official Certification Ceremony
The formal handover took place at the bank’s central office in Lazimpat, Kathmandu. Mr. Roshan Shrestha, Lead Auditor of the global certification body Intercert, presented the certificates to Mr. Madhav Prasad Upadhyay, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Garima Bikas Bank.
During the ceremony, CEO Upadhyay emphasized that these certifications are not just accolades but a reflection of the bank’s dedication to robust service delivery and state-of-the-art cybersecurity.
“Garima Bikas Bank is committed to making quality service delivery and information technology security more effective and stronger. These certifications will enhance customer trust and provide a solid foundation for our information security framework,” stated Mr. Madhav Prasad Upadhyay.
Understanding the Certifications: ISO 9001 and ISO 27001
The acquisition of these specific standards highlights the bank’s dual focus on customer satisfaction and data protection:
ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management)
This certification ensures that the bank’s internal processes are streamlined to consistently provide services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. It focuses on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
ISO 27001:2022 (Information Security)
As digital banking grows in Nepal, protecting customer data is paramount. This latest 2022 version of the standard confirms that Garima Bikas Bank has implemented rigorous controls to manage risks related to data security, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
Expanding Digital Horizons
Garima Bikas Bank currently serves approximately 900,000 customers through its extensive network of 126 branch offices across the country.
As the bank continues to transition toward a more digital-first approach, the ISO 27001:2022 recognition acts as a global seal of approval for its digital banking platforms.
The bank’s ability to balance “Simple, Safe, and Reliable” banking with international security protocols positions it as a leader among development banks in Nepal.
This achievement is expected to further boost investor confidence and customer loyalty in an increasingly competitive financial landscape.
