Daraz Nepal Announces Leadership Transition: Aanchal Kunwar Steps Down as Managing Director, Ben Yi Appointed Acting MD

Daraz Group, South Asia’s leading e-commerce platform, has announced a leadership transition at Daraz Nepal. After more than four and a half years of transformative leadership, Aanchal Kunwar will step down from her role as Managing Director and continue supporting the company as an advisor. The transition will officially take effect on July 1, 2026.

As part of the new leadership structure, Ben Yi has been appointed as Acting Managing Director of Daraz Nepal, while Ratish Luitel will assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).
Aanchal Kunwar Leaves a Lasting Legacy at Daraz Nepal
During her tenure, Aanchal Kunwar played a pivotal role in accelerating Nepal’s digital commerce ecosystem and expanding Daraz Nepal’s market presence. Under her leadership, the company more than doubled its business operations and significantly strengthened its nationwide footprint.
Key achievements during her leadership include:
Growing Daraz Nepal’s customer base to over 3 million users
Expanding the seller network to more than 24,000 merchants
Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which now account for 85% of all sellers
Extending delivery and logistics coverage to more than 140 locations across Nepal
Kunwar’s leadership also contributed to promoting entrepreneurship, empowering local businesses, and making e-commerce an integral part of everyday life for millions of Nepali consumers.
Continued Support as Advisor
To ensure a smooth and effective leadership transition, Kunwar will remain associated with Daraz Nepal as an advisor until December 31, 2026. In this role, she will continue to support the company’s leadership team, strategic initiatives, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Ben Yi Takes Charge as Acting Managing Director
Leading the next phase of Daraz Nepal’s growth is Ben Yi, who currently serves as Chief Commercial Officer of Daraz Group and Managing Director of Daraz Bangladesh.
Since joining Alibaba Group in 2015, Ben Yi has built extensive expertise in digital marketplaces, cross-border trade, business development, and platform operations. His international leadership experience is expected to further strengthen Daraz Nepal’s strategic growth and innovation initiatives.
Ratish Luitel Appointed Chief Commercial Officer
Daraz Nepal has also appointed Ratish Luitel as Chief Commercial Officer. With more than 15 years of experience in finance and business operations, Luitel has been part of Daraz for the past seven years.
Currently serving as Finance Director for Daraz Nepal and Daraz Sri Lanka, Luitel brings deep market knowledge, operational expertise, and a strong understanding of Nepal’s evolving digital economy.
