Meet ‘Pragati’: Nepal’s First AI-Powered Bilingual Exam Preparation Platform for Lok Sewa and Banking Aspirants
25th June 2026, Kathmandu
In a major boost to Nepal’s edtech ecosystem, MantraBrain has officially introduced ‘Pragati’ (getpragati.com), Nepal’s first-ever AI-driven, bilingual competitive exam preparation platform.
Nepal’s First AI-Powered Bilingual Exam
With its striking tagline, “Crack Any Nepali Exam with AI on Your Side,” Pragati aims to revolutionize how Nepalese students prepare for highly competitive exams like Lok Sewa (Public Service), Banking, Teacher Service, and Security Forces. By combining world-class artificial intelligence with locally tailored content, the platform is set to bridge the educational accessibility gap between rural and urban Nepal.
What Makes Pragati a Game-Changer? (USP)
While traditional video-lecture platforms dominate the market, Pragati shifts the focus toward active learning, algorithmic revision, and personalized AI mentorship through four core pillars:
1. Seamless Bilingual Experience
Understanding the diverse linguistic preferences of Nepalese students, Pragati offers a complete bilingual interface. With a single click, users can toggle between Nepali and English for every single question, explanation, and study material.
2. Personalized AI Tutor in Nepali
Whenever a student makes a mistake, the integrated AI Tutor steps in to provide clear, step-by-step conceptual breakdowns written entirely in natural Nepali. To ensure uninterrupted service and high-quality responses, the system is backed by advanced AI models from Anthropic Claude and OpenAI.
3. Deeply Rooted Localized Content
Pragati is engineered from the ground up specifically for Nepalese syllabi. The platform features an extensive repository of over 10,000 high-yield questions and more than 500 complete Mock Exams, all closely mapped to recent exam patterns and past paper analysis.
4. Behavioral Engineering (Habit-Building Features)
Pragati employs advanced cognitive science and gamification to help students cultivate a daily study habit:
Daily Reels & Quick Sprint: For micro-learning on the go.
Streak Freeze & Daily Goals: Keeping learners accountable and motivated.
Spaced Repetition (SM-2 Algorithm): Optimizing review intervals to maximize long-term memory retention.
Weak Topic Drill: Automatically identifying and targeting a user’s weak academic areas.
Founder’s Perspective:
“The era where Nepalese students had to rely on foreign platforms and foreign languages to prepare for competitive exams is coming to an end. We firmly believe that world-class technology and premium educational content can be built right here in Nepal. Pragati is the direct manifestation of that belief.” Umesh Ghimire, Founder (Pragati & MantraBrain)
Targeting a Massive, Under-Served Market
Every year, an estimated 4 million applicants compete for various government and public sector positions in Nepal. Pragati directly serves this massive demographic, which includes:
Public Service Commission (Lok Sewa): Kharidar, NaSu, Sakha Adhikari, etc.
Banking Sector: Nepal Rastra Bank, RBB, ADBL, and commercial banks.
Security Forces: Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF), and Nepali Army.
Teaching Service: TSC exams and Teaching License aspirants.
Technical Cadres: Engineering, IT, and Computer Operator exams.
Traditional physical coaching institutes often charge anywhere between NPR 3,000 to NPR 8,000 per month, making quality preparation financially draining and geographically restrictive for students outside Kathmandu. Pragati shatters this barrier by offering top-tier preparation at a fraction of the cost.
Robust Tech Stack & Bootstrapped Growth
Pragati is a completely bootstrapped initiative developed organically through MantraBrain’s internal revenues. The project is spearheaded by Umesh Ghimire, a veteran software engineer with over 12 years of expertise in web technologies and WordPress community leadership, alongside a dedicated 3-member core engineering and QA team.
Built using a modern tech stack, Flutter for mobile, React and TypeScript for web, and Laravel for backend infrastructure, the system emphasizes high security, speed, and accessibility.
The web platform and the Android app are fully operational, while the iOS application is slated for public rollout in the coming weeks. Pragati runs on a Freemium Subscription Model, allowing students to seamlessly unlock premium features via local payment gateways like eSewa and Khalti.
