Addressing the media, HAMS Hospital Chairman R.S. Bhandari emphasized that while HAMS provides comprehensive medical services locally, the partnership with Max Hospital bridges the gap for highly specialized, ultra-advanced treatments currently unavailable in Nepal.
“All standard treatments are available right here at HAMS. However, for specialized care not yet accessible in Nepal, we facilitate seamless treatment pathways through Max Hospital,” Bhandari explained.
Through this collaboration, Nepalese patients referred to Max Hospital receive exclusive treatment discounts, streamlined coordination, and—crucially—post-treatment follow-up care back at HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu. This framework eliminates the traditional burdens of repeated travel to India for post-operative evaluations.
Bhandari clarified that the private-sector partnership is designed to optimize patient welfare rather than promote medical outflow. Because certain high-end medical technologies are economically unfeasible given the current market size in Nepal, the collaboration ensures that patients requiring specialized procedures receive safe, cost-effective, and hassle-free interventions.
Focus on Specialized and Critical Care
HAMS Executive Director Dr. Jyotindra Sharma highlighted that CME programs are vital for enhancing clinical knowledge and skill sets. The event featured scientific presentations by prominent medical figures, including leading cardiothoracic and lung specialists from Max Hospital alongside renowned Nepalese cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Bhagwan Koirala and thoracic surgeon Dr. Ranjan.
