Taxpayer Incentive Portal Launched: IRD Calls on Consumers to Register Cash Purchase Bills

Nepal’s Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has officially launched the Taxpayer Incentive Portal, allowing consumers to register cash purchase bills and participate in a nationwide government reward program.

The initiative aims to promote formal tax compliance, increase commercial transaction transparency, and encourage buyers to demand official VAT or PAN invoices.
Eligible consumers who make purchases worth Rs. 100 or more and collect original PAN or VAT bills from Shrawan 1, 2083, can enter the scheme via the new digital platform.
Bill Upload Guidelines And Automated QR Integration
The department has established clear submission pathways based on the transaction payment method used:
- Cash Transactions: Consumers paying in cash must upload their original PAN or VAT purchase bills directly onto the official online portal.
- QR Code Payments: Purchases of Rs. 100 or higher made through bank or digital wallet QR payments are integrated automatically into the system, requiring no manual bill submission.
- Verification Requirement: All participants must retain their physical or digital original bills, as they are mandatory for verification prior to claim processing if selected for a prize.
Cash Prize Structure And Draw Timeline
The IRD is preparing to announce the first round of winners covering the initial 15 days of the program:
- Daily Cash Prize: One consumer wins Rs. 100,000 every day (subject to applicable tax deductions).
- Bumper Prize: One participant receives a bumper cash prize of Rs. 1 million every 15 days.
- Reporting Mechanism: The IRD encourages the public to request official invoices for all purchases and notify authorities regarding businesses that refuse to issue legal VAT or PAN bills.
