Ncell has partnered with Cimex Inc, the authorised distributor of BYD Auto Industry Co. Ltd, in Nepal to deliver connected vehicle services powered by Ncell Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity.
The collaboration strengthens Ncell’s position at the forefront of IoT innovation in Nepal, building on its early adoption and growing portfolio of IoT solutions. Through this partnership, Ncell continues to drive the adoption of connected technologies across sectors.
With this, BYD customers in Nepal will now be able to enjoy a more seamless and digitally connected driving experience.
With this, compatible BYD vehicles delivered through BYD Nepal will now come equipped with an embedded Ncell IoT SIM. This enables direct in-vehicle internet connectivity that supports the BYD App ecosystem and connected infotainment features. Users can access online services such as YouTube, Spotify, Karaoke, and other digital entertainment directly through the vehicle’s system, without needing to connect a phone or rely on a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Availability of individual features depends on the vehicle model, software version, and services available in Nepal. Connectivity works over Ncell’s robust mobile network, and the user experience may vary based on coverage, location, and vehicle configuration, just like the Ncell SIM they use.
“This partnership for IoT service brings smart connectivity, infotainment, security, and intelligent mobility into BYD vehicles so that customers can enjoy a smoother, more convenient connected driving experience with adoption of IoT solutions,” Upanga Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Ncell, said, addressing an event in Kathmandu to mark this partnership. “By enabling direct vehicle connectivity for the BYD App and popular infotainment services, we are helping users stay connected without depending on external hotspots or mobile data. Moreover, connecting to a local network ensures more reliable navigation whether you are on the go or stuck in traffic.”
The partnership will not just benefit new car owners but those already owning BYD vehicles. They can visit the designated BYD Authorised Service Centre Network, which is spread across 13 locations in Nepal, to get an Ncell IoT SIM in their current vehicle and access the supported connected features.
Sharing his excitement about the collaboration with Ncell, Sahil Shrestha, CEO of Cimex Inc Pvt Limited, said, “BYD has always been at the forefront of technological innovation. By partnering with Ncell, we are taking another important step in enhancing the ownership experience for our customers. Reliable in-vehicle connectivity allows our users to fully experience the intelligent features of BYD vehicles.”
The specific connectivity plan, validity, and charging details will depend on the vehicle or service package.
