Nepal Rastra Bank has issued a directive to all licensed banks and financial institutions to ensure the continuous operation of essential banking and payment services in regions hit by recent natural disasters.

Operational Facilitation: Following recent flooding in Rasuwa and surrounding regions, the central bank authorized institutions to operate temporarily from alternative locations and utilize digital payment systems to maintain uninterrupted customer services.
Resource Mobilization: Financial institutions have been instructed to allocate and deploy necessary financial resources toward immediate search, rescue, direct relief, and long term rehabilitation efforts.
Priorities for Banks and Financial Institutions
Stakeholder Protection: The central bank urged institutions to prioritize the safety and security of their customers, employees, and local communities while operating in affected areas.
Community Support: NRB called on banks to remain flexible and responsive to the needs of disaster-hit communities, emphasizing customer assistance and the rapid restoration of core financial operations.
