Four people sustained injuries early Wednesday morning when an electric vehicle (EV) slammed into a stationary Indian-registered tanker along the East-West Highway in Saptari.
The accident took place at approximately 5:45 AM in Shreepur, located within Surunga Municipality-6. According to local authorities, poor visibility caused by a thick blanket of fog contributed heavily to the crash.
Incident Details and Vehicle Information
The involved vehicle was an EV bearing the registration number Ba.Pra.01-035 Cha 3317—was traveling from Kathmandu toward Jhapa. Due to an unexpected breakdown, an Indian tanker with the license plate WB 11 F 1795 had been parked along the roadside. Driving through heavy morning fog, the speeding EV failed to notice the stationary truck in time, resulting in a rear-end collision.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Himraj Ghimire of the District Police Office, Saptari, stated that preliminary findings point to impaired visibility from dense fog and high speed as primary factors behind the accident. Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
