Organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 21 in coordination with the Lalitpur District Table Tennis Association, this prestigious annual sporting event promises high-energy competition, community engagement, and cultural celebration.

According to Technical Chief Nikesh Prasad Joshi, the tournament is gearing up to be one of the biggest local sporting spectacles of the season:
17 Competitive Categories: Players will battle it out across 17 distinct competitive events, ensuring diverse participation across age groups and skill levels.
Massive Participation: Organizers anticipate around 500 table tennis players from various wards to compete.
Lucrative Cash Prizes: To boost player morale, cash prizes have been allocated across all 17 categories, contributing to a massive total prize pool of NRs. 500,000.
Night-Time Matches: In an exciting move to accommodate spectators and build a vibrant evening atmosphere, matches will also be conducted under the lights (nightly games).
Promoting Sports and Local Heritage in Khokana
Highlighting the broader vision behind the event, Ward No. 21 Chairman Rabindra Maharjan explained that hosting the tournament in the ancient settlement of Khokana serves a dual purpose. Beyond discovering raw athletic talent and uplifting table tennis at the grassroots level, the event aims to preserve and promote Khokana’s rich indigenous art, culture, traditions, historical identity, and local heritage.
By blending competitive sports with cultural tourism, the 8th Mayor Cup is expected to draw spectators from all over the Kathmandu Valley, providing a major boost to the local economy and community spirit.
