Mrs. World 2025 Chanita Seedaket Craythorne Visits Nepal Mediciti to Promote Maternal Mental Health Initiative
2nd November 2026, Kathmandu
Nepal Mediciti recently hosted Mrs. World 2025, Chanita Seedaket Craythorne (Sammy), alongside Dr. Sanju Bhatta (Mrs. Nepal International) and Prachaya Thepthewin from Thailand.
Maternal Mental Health Initiative
The delegation visited the hospital to lead meaningful discussions focused on Postpartum Depression (PPD) and advocate for prioritizing maternal mental health care.
Advocating for Postpartum Mental Health Awareness
The visit featured an interactive awareness session with new and expecting mothers, designed to break the stigma surrounding maternal mental health.
- Interactive Community Engagement: The session provided a safe space for mothers to openly share their feelings, discuss the emotional challenges after childbirth, and acknowledge that seeking mental health support is vital.
- Launch of Happy Mom Check Nepal: Mrs. World 2025 introduced Happy Mom Check Nepal, an initiative she founded to support maternal mental well-being.
- Self-Assessment Tool: The platform provides a free, private mental health self-check based on the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) to help mothers assess their emotional health and connect with professional support services.
Role of Families in Supporting Maternal Well-Being
The discussion highlighted that addressing postpartum depression extends beyond individual healthcare and requires strong family involvement.
- Partner and Family Engagement: Emphasized that husbands, partners, and family members play a critical role in recognizing emotional changes and standing beside mothers throughout their postpartum recovery.
- Shared Responsibilities: Highlighted the necessity of sharing childcare duties to relieve stress on new mothers.
- Holistic Care Approach: Reinforced that caring for mothers involves supporting both their physical recovery and individual emotional well-being.
