The NTB-TikTok partnership reflects TikTok’s commitment to contributing to Nepal’s socio-economic development by leveraging the platform to promote tourism, empower local artisans, and create new opportunities for local communities and businesses.
As part of the campaign, TikTok brought nine international travel content creators from Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and South Asia to Nepal. The creators were in Nepal from 30 October to 7 November, exploring the country and sharing their experiences with their global audiences, helping travellers discover both well-known destinations and hidden gems.
TikTok also launched a dedicated #VisitNepal hashtag page to increase the visibility and engagement of tourism-related content. Through TikTok’s Collab feature, the Nepal Tourism Board partnered with Nepali celebrities and local creators to reach wider audiences and showcase the country through authentic local perspectives. The campaign also featured livestreams from popular tourism destinations allowing people around the world to experience Nepal virtually and discover places they may want to visit. The #VisitNepal campaign will continue through the end of 2026.
Nepal’s Minister for Information and Communication, Honorable Dr. Bikram Timsina, attended as Chief Guest. Speaking ahead of the event, he said, “Digital platforms have changed the way the world discovers destinations. Today, a story shared from one corner of the world can inspire someone in another corner to visit Nepal. We welcome TikTok not only as a platform for promoting Nepal, but as a potential long-term partner in connecting our tourism, culture, creativity and young people with the world. A story can inspire a journey, a journey can create an opportunity, and an opportunity can transform a community.”
Emir Gelen, Head of Government Relations and Public Policy, TikTok for Middle East, Eurasia and Africa (MEA), said, “TikTok has transformed the way people discover places, cultures and experiences, turning inspiration into real-world opportunities. By partnering with the Government and the Nepal Tourism Board on #VisitNepal, we aim to showcase the country’s incredible tourism potential to global audiences. Beyond inspiring travel, this partnership reflects our broader commitment to Nepal’s socio-economic development by empowering local creators, supporting small businesses and helping communities benefit from the opportunities of the digital economy.
The #VisitNepal campaign built on TikTok’s earlier work with the NTB, including workshops that trained more than 300 local tourism entrepreneurs and creators in digital storytelling. The initiative marks the start of a longer-term effort to support Nepal’s tourism sector, involving the Government of Nepal, the private sector, media partners and the creator community.
