In a display of technical prowess and innovative thinking, the “Code to Convert” team from Nepal Engineering College (NEC) has emerged as the winner of the highly competitive inter-college level Asian Hackathon 2025.
The event, which took place from September 4-6 (Bhadra 19-21) at the Asian School of Management and Technology, brought together some of the brightest young minds in the country to develop cutting-edge solutions to real-world problems. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 40,000 for their exceptional project.
The winning project, titled “Pasale,” is a retail goods analysis application designed to help businesses make smarter decisions. The team developed a mobile application that works in tandem with a powerful Python-based analytics backend called the “Market Fit Analyzer.”
This sophisticated system allows retailers to analyze sales data, track inventory, and identify market trends with a level of precision that can significantly boost their business performance.
The judges were particularly impressed with the project’s practical impact and its seamless integration of different technologies. The success of “Pasale” is a testament to the students’ ability to not only code but also to understand and solve tangible market problems.
The victory for Nepal Engineering College is a significant achievement, cementing its reputation as a hub for producing top-tier engineering talent.
The win is a source of pride for the college and its students, who showcased their skills on a national platform. Following “Code to Convert,” the “Mentor Metrics” team from Kathmandu University secured the position of first runner-up, earning a prize of Rs. 20,000.
The “Kotrikaash” team from Khwopa Engineering College was named the second runner-up and received Rs. 10,000, rounding out the top three. The strong performance of these colleges highlights the depth of talent within Nepal’s educational institutions.
The Asian Hackathon 2025 was not just about the top three winners; it was a celebration of innovation and creativity. The organizers, led by the Asian School of Management and Technology, also recognized several other outstanding teams with special awards.
The “Byte Mavericks” from Amrit Science Campus were honored with the Best Presentation award for their clear and compelling pitch.
Kathmandu Business Campus took home the Futuristic Idea Award, recognizing a project with long-term potential. “Debug Dynasty” from Softwarica College of IT was commended for their exceptional design, winning the Best UI/UX Design award. Finally, the “InSync” team from the host college received the Mentors’ Choice Award, a testament to their hard work and collaborative spirit.
The hackathon provided a crucial platform for young innovators, technologists, and problem-solvers to showcase their skills, network with peers and mentors, and turn their ideas into reality under pressure.
The success of events like the Asian Hackathon is vital for Nepal’s burgeoning tech ecosystem. They not only foster a culture of innovation but also provide a pipeline of talented individuals who can contribute to the country’s technological and economic development.
The “Pasale” app, developed under the intense pressure of the hackathon, is a prime example of how these events can lead to the creation of practical, impactful solutions. As the country looks to a future driven by technology, the achievements of students at events like this are a source of great hope and inspiration.
