In a recent cyberattack, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and multiple airport websites were hacked by a group identifying itself as “GenZ Rising Nepal-CTR Nepal.”

The hackers posted warnings in both Nepali and English, targeting political party activists and threatening to expose their personal information if they crossed unspecified limits.
The attackers labeled activists as “Jholes” and warned against any misuse of information, threats, or spreading fake propaganda. The message appeared on CAAN’s main website (airports.caanepal.gov.np) and several subdomains, displaying a uniform warning across all affected sites.
Despite the alarming messages, CAAN assured the public that all data remains secure. The authority has since taken the affected websites offline, posting a maintenance notice while investigating the breach.
Cybersecurity experts have emphasized the importance of strengthening online security measures for government portals, especially those handling critical aviation and travel data, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
