As the Dashain festival nears, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has introduced maximum airfare limits for domestic flights to curb excessive ticket pricing during the festive travel rush.
Dashain Fare 2025 Control
The move aims to protect passengers from unfair fares and ensure transparent air travel across the country.
Key Highlights:
CAAN sets maximum airfare limits for all major domestic routes.
Highest fare: Kathmandu–Dhangadhi (Rs. 17,579).
According to CAAN, airlines will not be allowed to charge beyond the government-approved fare rates. Any airline found violating the prescribed limit will face strict legal action. The decision comes in response to repeated complaints from passengers who reported that airlines charged double fares during past festivals.
Highest and Lowest Domestic Airfare Announced
As per the newly released rate chart, the highest airfare has been fixed for the Kathmandu–Dhangadhi route at Rs. 17,579, while the lowest airfare has been set for the Kathmandu–Simara route at Rs. 3,978.
CAAN officials said the measure will help regulate air ticket prices during Dashain and promote fair competition among domestic airlines.

Passengers Urged to Stay Informed
The Civil Aviation Authority has also urged passengers to check official fare rates before purchasing tickets. Travelers are encouraged to report any instances of overpricing to the authority to help maintain fair practices in the aviation sector.
CAAN’s decision to set maximum fare limits before the Dashain season marks a significant step in consumer protection and aviation transparency. With a sharp rise in domestic travel during the festive period, this measure is expected to ease financial burdens on passengers and ensure fair ticketing practices across all airlines.
Ensuring Transparency and Safety in Air Travel
Dashain, Nepal’s biggest festival, typically sees a surge in travel demand as thousands return home to celebrate with their families. By introducing a transparent fare system, CAAN aims to enhance passenger trust and promote responsible pricing in Nepal’s aviation industry.
Officials have also emphasized that monitoring teams will be deployed to enforce compliance, and airlines found overcharging travelers will face immediate penalties.
