NT Fiber Reaches Chitlang: Nepal Telecom Plans Fiber Backhaul Upgrade For Triple Play

Nepal Telecom (NT), the national telecommunications provider, has announced the expansion of its state-of-the-art NT Fiber to the Home (FTTH) service to Chitlang, a key tourist destination within Thaha Municipality, Makwanpur District.

This strategic expansion aims to provide high-speed internet and reliable telephone services to residents and institutions in the region.
Launch and Service Commencement
The official launch of the FTTH service, including telephone and internet access, took place on November 3, 2025 (Kartik 18, 2082), at Shree Swachchhanda Bhairav Secondary School in Thaha Municipality-9. This marks the beginning of modern basic telecommunication services in the Chitlang area.
Future Plans and Service Upgrade
Following strong demand, Nepal Telecom is already moving forward with FTTH installations at several other schools and institutions. The company has a forward-looking plan to enhance service delivery:
Current Infrastructure: The service initially operates via Radio Backhaul
Upcoming Upgrade: To meet the growing demand, NT plans to transition to Fiber Backhaul in the near future. This upgrade will allow the company to expand its offerings to include telephone, high-speed internet, and television (Triple Play Service) in Chitlang.
Nepal Telecom believes this expansion will significantly contribute to the educational, commercial, and tourism development of the Chitlang area.
