Legendary Robin Singh Appointed Mentor of Lumbini Lions for Nepal Premier League

The Lumbini Lions franchise has made a major statement ahead of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) by appointing renowned Indian coach and former international all-rounder Robin Singh as the team’s mentor.
The NPL is scheduled to run from Mangsir 1 to 27 (mid-November to mid-December).

The appointment of the 62-year-old Singh brings a wealth of international coaching experience to the Lumbini Lions dugout, offering a significant boost not only to the franchise but to Nepali cricket as a whole.
A Legacy of T20 Success
Robin Singh possesses an impressive coaching pedigree spanning two decades:
IPL and CPL
He is best known for his long association with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he served as head coach and was part of the coaching structure that saw MI win their first IPL title in 2013. He has also coached the Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
International Experience
Singh’s international coaching resume includes stints as the fielding coach for the Indian National Team (2007-2008), and, crucially, serving as the Director of Cricket and Head Coach for the UAE National Team from 2020. Under his guidance, the UAE team participated in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022.
Recent Success
In the International League T20 (ILT20) in the UAE, he guided the MI Emirates to championship glory as their Head Coach, having served as their General Manager in the inaugural 2023 season.

The Team Structure
Robin Singh will be mentoring a strong squad that includes Rohit Kumar Paudel, the captain of the Nepali National Cricket Team, as the marquee player.
The team has also confirmed two international signings for NPL 2:
Darcy Short (Australian All-rounder)
Thomas Draca (Italian Bowler)
Further international signings are expected to be announced soon, as Lumbini Lions aims to leverage Robin Singh’s extensive knowledge and experience to achieve a strong result in the highly competitive Nepal Premier League.
