Nepal’s First ‘NAS-IT Expo 2025’ Concludes: Excitement Over Progress in Technology

The inaugural ‘NAS-IT Expo 2025,’ hosted by the Nepal Association for Software and IT Services Companies (NAS-IT), concluded this Saturday, generating significant excitement over the rapid progress being made in the country’s technology sector.

Held over two days at the Heritage Garden in Sanepa, Lalitpur, the exhibition featured innovative software, IT services, and technological solutions from more than 35 Nepali IT companies.

High Attendance Signals Public Interest

The expo, which ran from Friday to Saturday, saw an enthusiastic turnout, underscoring the growing public and commercial interest in Nepal’s tech capabilities.

Prarthana Shakya, a NAS-IT Board Member, spoke to reporters after the event, noting the overwhelming positive response. “Just yesterday, over a thousand visitors toured the expo. We received excellent feedback,” Shakya said. She added, “Many were genuinely surprised by the progress Nepal has made in the technology sector.”

The exhibition served as a critical platform for software and IT service providers to showcase their latest projects and innovative solutions.

As the first exhibition focused exclusively on the software and IT services sector in Nepal, it also successfully created a new avenue for networking and mutual collaboration among tech companies.

The Need for Government Support

While the enthusiasm was high, participants also highlighted the need for greater state involvement to ensure the sector’s continued growth.

Dayas Thapa, an expo participant, emphasized that the government must turn its attention to systematically organizing the Nepali IT sector. He stressed the need for state support in three key areas:

Facilitating Investment: Making it easier for both domestic and foreign investors to fund IT ventures.

Regulation: Establishing clear and supportive regulatory frameworks.

Ecosystem Support: Providing overall backing to help the IT ecosystem thrive.

Looking Ahead

The successful completion of the ‘NAS-IT Expo 2025’ marks a significant milestone, confirming that Nepal’s IT industry is not only ready but eager to lead in the digital economy.

The challenge now lies in translating this domestic enthusiasm and technical capability into policy-backed, sustainable economic growth.
