30th September 2025, Kathmandu

Nepal has etched its name into the annals of cricket history, clinching a stunning and momentous T20I series victory against a full Test-playing nation for the very first time.

Aadil Alam’s 4/24 Stunner

The Nepalese national cricket team secured the landmark win against the mighty West Indies with a commanding 90-run victory in the second match of the three-game series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE on Monday.

The win was sealed through a perfect blend of batting power, brilliant bowling, and sparkling fielding. At the heart of the bowling brilliance was young pacer Aadil Alam, who was the star with the ball, producing a fiery spell of four wickets for just 24 runs.

West Indies Collapses Under Pressure

Chasing a target of 174, the West Indies batting order crumbled under relentless pressure from the Nepalese attack, eventually being bundled out for a mere 83 runs in 17.1 overs. Eight of their batters failed to reach double figures, with Jason Holder’s 21 being the only notable contribution.

Aadil Alam’s career-best performance dismantled the Caribbean side’s middle and lower order. He was ably supported by Kushal Bhurtel, who chipped in with three wickets, while Dipendra Singh Airee, Karan KC, and Lalit Rajbanshi each secured one wicket to complete the demolition.

The wickets fell in clusters, leaving the former T20 world champions in complete disarray and securing the historic series win for Nepal with one match still to play.

Batting Lays the Foundation

Earlier in the day, Nepal’s batting set the stage for glory. After an early wobble at 43 for 3, a magnificent 100-run partnership between Asif Sheikh and Sundeep Jora propelled the team to a total of 173 for 6.

This stand also set a new national record for Nepal’s highest fourth-wicket partnership in T20Is.

Sundeep Jora was the aggressor, blazing 63 runs off just 39 balls, featuring five sixes and three fours. Asif Sheikh anchored the innings with a classy unbeaten 68 off 47 balls, striking two sixes and eight fours.

Cameos from Gulshan Jha and Aadil Alam (11 off 5 balls on his return from suspension) added valuable runs at the death.

This emphatic series win over a Test-playing nation is a massive milestone for Nepalese cricket, showcasing their growing talent and maturity on the international stage. All eyes now turn to the third and final match on Tuesday.
