Acme Engineering Wins Prestigious Koshi Project Showcase

In a significant boost for Nepal’s tourism sector and engineering innovation, Acme Engineering College has emerged as the triumphant winner of the inaugural Koshi Project Showcase.

Held on Sunday in Kathmandu, the grand finale saw Team Acme Coaster impressively outperform nine other elite teams to clinch the coveted first place.
Organized by Elison Hospitality, the pioneering event aimed to foster tourism and identify development-oriented projects specifically within the picturesque Koshi Province. The competition showcased a remarkable synergy between technical education and the promotion of Nepal’s hidden tourist gems.
Top Engineering Minds Recognized
Following a rigorous evaluation, Pulchowk Engineering College’s team, Pulchowk Year Five, secured the first runner-up position, demonstrating exceptional talent. Nepal Engineering College’s innovative Agro Basti project was awarded the second runner-up spot, further highlighting the diverse and impactful ideas presented.
The winning team, Acme Coaster, was awarded a substantial cash prize of NPR 100,000, along with a prestigious trophy and certificates. The first runner-up received NPR 50,000, while the second runner-up took home NPR 25,000, accompanied by trophies, certificates, and additional prizes.
A crucial next step for the top 10 finalist teams will be to present their visionary Koshi Province tourism development projects to investors and stakeholders in the province, aiming for further recognition and potential real-world implementation.
Expert Panel Guides the Showcase
The final round’s evaluation was meticulously carried out by a distinguished panel of judges, ensuring a fair and comprehensive assessment of each project’s merit:

This esteemed panel critically assessed each team’s presentation, concept, and implementation strategy, focusing on viability and impact for Nepal tourism.
Bridging Education and Tourism Development
The Koshi Project Showcase stands out as Nepal’s first competition to seamlessly integrate students from both civil engineering and architecture disciplines. This innovative approach successfully bridged the traditional gap between technical education and tourism development, leading to the identification of previously overlooked tourist destinations and the promotion of rural tourism across Koshi Province.
Elina Magar, Chairperson of Elison Hospitality, expressed strong optimism about the initiative’s future. She affirmed that Elison Hospitality would provide necessary facilitation if investors, local authorities, or the government expressed willingness to implement the proposed projects. Magar emphasized the immense potential of this three-day competition to attract youth to the tourism sector, contribute significantly to the national economy, and generate vital employment opportunities.
Diverse Projects for Koshi Province
The initial selection phase saw robust participation from 21 teams, with the top 10 ultimately advancing to the final exhibition. Each team was assigned a specific site within Koshi Province to develop unique tourism-based projects. These sites included, but were not limited to, Danda Bazar, Rajarani, Rauta Pokhari, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha, Panitar Ilam, Suryodaya Antu Ilam, Mai Pokhari, Likhu in Okhaldhunga, and the iconic Mundhum Circuit. Detailed project models were exhibited during the culminating final round, showcasing the innovative spirit of Nepal’s engineering and architecture students.
The success of the Koshi Project Showcase was made possible through the invaluable support of key stakeholders, including the Koshi Provincial Government, Nepal Tourism Board, and Nepal Telecom. The event management was expertly handled by Kafal Events.
This pioneering competition not only celebrated the academic excellence of Acme Engineering College but also laid a strong foundation for future sustainable tourism and infrastructure development in Koshi Province and across Nepal.
