5th October 2025, Kathmandu
The Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADBL) has issued a vital notice confirming that a selection of its branches across Nepal will maintain operations on the public holiday of Sunday, October 5, 2025 (Ashoj 19, 2082).
ADBL Branches Remain Open
This strategic decision is implemented to ensure essential financial services remain available to customers during the busy Dashain festival period, a time characterized by peak economic activity, high personal and institutional expenditure, and significant cash flow requirements.
Service Hours and Transaction Focus
The designated branches nationwide will operate for a specific half-day window to balance public necessity with the holiday. The service hours for the open branches will be from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This focused period will allow customers to complete critical banking tasks. The core services available at the counters include:
Cash Flow Management: Facilitating cash deposits and withdrawals, which is highly essential during the festival for transactions and personal expenses.
Credit and Debt Services: Processing loan repayments and disbursements to ensure financial obligations and new financing needs are met without delay.
Fund Transfer: Providing essential remittance services, which are crucial for families receiving money from abroad for the festival.
Utility and Account Services: Handling account inquiries and utility payments to maintain service continuity.
The bank has also assured customers that its non-branch, digital channels—namely digital banking, mobile banking, and the entire ATM network—will function seamlessly and continuously throughout the festival period, providing 24/7 convenience for basic financial management.
Nationwide Branch Coverage by Province
ADBL has ensured a wide-ranging geographic presence, activating branches across all seven provinces to uphold its commitment to nationwide coverage, particularly benefiting those involved in agriculture and small businesses in both urban and rural settings.
In Koshi Province, the open branches are situated in major hubs, including Biratnagar, Kanchanbari, Itahari, Ramdhuni, and Dharan. This selection covers the main commercial activity centers of the eastern region.
Madhesh Province is covered in two sections. The Janakpur area branches open are Bardibas, Khajuri, Bodebarsain, and Loharpatti Baheda, focusing on local agricultural and market needs. The Birgunj area sees branches in Birgunj, Simra, Chandranigahapur, Kalaiya, Ishnathpur, and Chhapur remain operational, ensuring liquidity in this significant industrial and trade corridor.
For Bagmati Province, particularly the high-traffic Kathmandu Valley, the open branches are numerous to handle the metropolitan demands. These include Satdobato, Sallaghari, Dhumbarahi, Kalanki, Chabahil, Kapanjol, Sanga, Balambu, and Bungmati. Furthermore, the Corporate Branch Office at the Head Office in Kathmandu will also remain open to coordinate and assist the nationwide operations.
Lumbini Province has the most expansive coverage across three regional groupings. In the Chitwan area, the branches open are Ratnanagar, Bharatpur, Tandi, Madi, Sauraha, Gunjanagar, Parsa, Kholesimal, and Kanti Path. In the Bhairahawa region, the notice specifies that all branches will be open except for those located in Butwal and Palpa. Finally, all branches under the Dang regional office are confirmed to be operational.
In Gandaki Province, services will be provided by branches in key cities and commercial areas such as Pokhara, Khairenitar, Bhoteodar, Phalebas, Waling, Huwas, and Baglung, along with Beni and Kawasoti.
The high-hill regions are not overlooked. Karnali Province will have services running in Dailekh, Dullu, and Jumla. Lastly, Sudurpaschim Province will see operations in Dhangadhi, Dipayal, Mangalsen, Dadeldhura, Patan, and Bajhang.
Purpose and Commitment
The core motivation behind keeping these branches operational during a public holiday is to directly support the bank’s designated clientele: farmers, traders, and government offices, all of whom have increased transactional needs during Dashain. The bank emphasizes its role as a development-oriented institution dedicated to minimizing service disruptions for large-scale transactions such as salary distribution and remittance withdrawals. By ensuring continuous and smooth financial support, ADBL reinforces its commitment to financial accessibility and contributes positively to Nepal’s overarching economic and social needs. The management encourages all customers to take advantage of these special service hours and assures that all necessary health, safety, and staffing protocols have been established for efficient service delivery.
