The Apple iPhone 14 Plus, as well as the standard iPhone 14, have been reduced in price in Nepal. This is the first price decrease for the two since their arrival in the country.
In January 2023, the long-awaited iPhone 14 series was finally released in Nepal. The iPhone 14 series was announced in September 2022, but its release in Nepal was delayed due to a $300 import limit that was in effect until December 2022.
The iPhone 14 Plus is designed in the same way as the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13. It is, nevertheless, larger and has a larger battery and display. Let’s take a peek at the iPhone 14 Plus.
Design of the Apple iPhone 14 Plus
The iPhone 14 Plus is essentially the iPhone 14’s bigger brother. The new iPhone 14 Plus is also 14.1mm longer, 6.6mm broader, and 25g heavier than the iPhone 14. Aside from these minor modifications, the iPhone 14 design is similar to the iPhone 14.
It features the same flat design that Apple has used since the iPhone 12 series. The rear glass and the Ceramic Shield front glass are held in place by an aluminum frame on the iPhone 14 Plus. The phone is IP68-rated, which means it can survive dust and water for 30 minutes at a distance of six meters.
Apple has made substantial internal improvements to the iPhone 14 Plus to make it easier to repair. This is in response to previous user complaints regarding the difficulties of repairing iPhones. The modifications to the iPhone 14 Plus should make repairs easier, less expensive, and more accessible.
The iPhone 14 Plus has the same color selections as the iPhone 14. The 14 Plus is available in five color options: midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED. The blue one is a new hue, while the purple is a whole new color.
Display
The iPhone 14 Plus boasts a larger 6.7-inch OLED display with a density of 458 PPI. HDR10 and Dolby Vision are supported by the display.
Furthermore, True Tone technology is used in the iPhone 14 Plus’s display to adapt the color temperature based on ambient illumination to make it appear more natural.
The display offers a usual max brightness of 800 nits and a peak HDR brightness of 1200 nits. These are the exact specifications of the iPhone 13’s display.
The absence of Apple’s ProMotion 120Hz display, up to 2000 nits of outdoor peak brightness, and the Always-On display functionality distinguish the iPhone 14 Plus display from the Pro models.
Hardware
The latest and finest Apple A16 Bionic chip is used in the Pro versions. The standard iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, on the other hand, had to make do with the older — but still very powerful — A15 Bionic chip.
The A15 Bionic contains six CPU cores, two of which are performance and four of which are power-efficient. The graphics performance on the iPhone 14 is better because the A15 chip utilized in this smartphone has five GPU cores, one more than on the iPhone 13.
The iPhone 14 Plus comes with three memory options: 128GB, 256GB, and 512 GB.
Apple made news this year when it removed the actual SIM card slot from the iPhone 14 series in the United States, replacing it with dual eSIM capability.
International variants of the iPhone 14 Plus, on the other hand, retain a traditional SIM card slot as well as support for eSIM technology. Chinese versions, as previously stated, do not support eSIM, instead supporting two traditional SIM cards.
There’s also the crash detection option. The new dual-core accelerometer can detect G-forces of up to 256Gs, while the existing barometer can now detect changes in cabin pressure.
The iPhone 14 Plus lineup can detect a severe automobile crash and automatically telephone emergency services using these two sensors, as well as a new high dynamic range gyroscope, GPS, and microphone.
There’s also a new Emergency SOS via satellite capability that permits emergency communications when there’s no Wi-Fi or cellular coverage, but it’s not available in Nepal.
Camera
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus both have twin cameras. The 12MP ultrawide camera offers the same 120° field of view and f/2.4 aperture as last year’s model. The main and front cameras, on the other hand, have been updated.
The main camera is still 12MP, but it has a wider f/1.5 aperture, a larger 1/1.7′′ sensor, and larger 1.9m pixels. The TrueDepth camera’s 12MP front camera boasts a faster f/1.9 aperture and, for the first time, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), which allows improved focusing.
With the iPhone 14 series, Apple also debuted a new image processing technology dubbed Photonic Engine. Deep Fusion has been improved by the Photonic Engine.
Apple’s new HDR stacking technology, Photonic Engine, “improves mid-to-low-light performance for photos across all cameras: up to 2x on the Ultra Wide camera, 2x on the TrueDepth camera, and an impressive 2.5x on the new Main camera when compared to iPhone 13.”
Battery and operating system
The battery for the iPhone 14 Plus is larger at 4325mAh. According to Apple, the battery can support up to 26 hours of video playback and up to 100 hours of audio playback.
Apple does not officially state the wattage of the iPhone’s fast charging capacity. However, it does state that utilizing a 20W adaptor or higher (sold separately) will charge the battery up to 50% in roughly 30 minutes.
Apple iPhone 14 Plus Price and Availability in Nepal
The Apple iPhone 14 Plus costs Rs. 1,57,990 (128GB), Rs. 176,990 (256GB), and Rs. 2,29,990 (512GB) in Nepal. The phone is available for purchase via Apple-approved shops.
The 128GB variant cost Rs. 1,73,990 when it was released in January 2023, and the 256GB variant cost Rs. 1,92,990.
However, the price of the base 128GB and 256GB variants was reduced by Rs. 16,000 in April 2023, while the price of the 512GB model remained the same.
The Apple iPhone 14 Plus is just an iPhone 14 with a larger screen and a larger battery. Externally, the phone has the same boxy glass design and aluminum frame as last year.
Everything else about the iPhone 14 remains the same. So, if you want a longer-lasting iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus is the way to go.
