On the occasion of Community Day 2025, Ather announced a significant upgrade to the Rizta Z’s display, transitioning from a button-controlled system to a state-of-the-art touchscreen interface.
This update is not just for new buyers; in a move that underscores their commitment to their customer base, Ather is providing this new feature to all existing Rizta Z owners via a free Over-the-Air (OTA) update.
The Ather Rizta Z, launched in India in 2024, has rapidly become the cornerstone of Ather’s portfolio, accounting for a remarkable 60% of their market share in the country.
Its popularity is no accident. The Rizta Z was designed from the ground up to be a practical, comfortable, and family-friendly scooter, a departure from Ather’s more performance-oriented 450 series.
This latest upgrade further solidifies its position as a leading choice in the electric scooter market, both in India and now, in Nepal, where Ather scooters are distributed by Vaidya’s Energy.
Previously, the Rizta’s display relied on physical buttons for navigation and features, with some functionalities accessible only through the connected mobile app.
The new touchscreen interface, a 7-inch TFT display, brings the user experience to a whole new level. It offers smooth, intuitive navigation, allowing riders to effortlessly access ride modes, maps, and connectivity features.
This seamless integration of technology is powered by AtherStack 6, the company’s proprietary software platform, which ensures a responsive and lag-free experience.
One of the most impressive aspects of this announcement is the company’s decision to offer the touchscreen upgrade to existing customers at no additional cost. This move is a testament to Ather’s philosophy of continuous improvement and providing long-term value to its customers.
The OTA update mechanism ensures that owners can upgrade their scooter’s software from the comfort of their homes, without needing to visit a service center. This kind of post-purchase support is rare in the automotive industry and highlights Ather’s leadership in the EV space.
Beyond the new touchscreen, the Ather Rizta Z is packed with features that make it an ideal choice for the modern family. It comes with two battery options: a 2.9 kWh variant and a larger 3.7 kWh option, providing a certified IDC range of up to 160 km on a single full charge. With a top speed of 80 km/h, it is perfectly suited for both city commutes and longer rides.
The scooter’s design is centered on utility and comfort. It boasts an expansive 56 liters of storage space—a segment-leading 34 liters under the seat, supplemented by an additional 22 liters in an optional front trunk.
This vast storage capacity makes it highly practical for daily use, whether for grocery runs or carrying a pillion rider’s luggage. The wide and long seat, along with the included pillion backrest and spacious floorboard, ensures a comfortable ride for both the driver and passenger.
Rider safety and convenience are paramount in the Rizta Z’s design. It is equipped with advanced ride-assist technologies, including auto hold for inclines, reverse mode for easy parking, and skid control for enhanced safety on slippery surfaces.
The scooter also features a host of smart connected features such as an emergency stop signal, live location sharing, theft alert, and the convenient “ping my scooter” function, all accessible through the Ather mobile app.
Available in seven vibrant color options, the Ather Rizta Z blends style with substance. Its robust build quality and a host of modern features make it a compelling package for anyone looking to switch to a sustainable and smart mode of transportation.
For Nepali consumers, the availability and support for Ather scooters are handled by Vaidya’s Energy, ensuring that this cutting-edge technology is well-supported in the local market.
The free touchscreen upgrade is a clear signal that the Ather Rizta Z is not just a scooter, but a smart, evolving piece of technology that will continue to offer more value over time.
