Her Excellency Leann Johnston, Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, visited Mid-West University on January 21, 2025, and participated in an interaction program chaired by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Dhruba Kumar Gautam.

The visit and interaction program related to higher education served as a significant platform to strengthen educational and diplomatic ties between Nepal and Australia.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Gautam highlighted the importance of existing collaborations and emphasized the need for expanding academic partnerships between Mid-West University and Australian universities. He also expressed his gratitude to Her Excellency for her visit.
Her Excellency Johnston spoke about the longstanding relationship between Australia and Nepal, focusing on cooperation in education, governance, and cultural exchange. She expressed optimism that the program would further enhance the bilateral relationship.
The Registrar of Mid-West University, Prof. Dr. Shobhakhar Kandel delivered the welcome remarks, and Asst. Prof. Kalpana Paudel presented an overview of the university, its achievements, and plans.
The program was attended by dignitaries, including the Chairperson and Member of the MU Service Commission, Deans of various Graduate Schools, Executive Directors, Heads of Departments/Coordinators, Representatives from the Ambassador of Australia to Nepal, professors, and staff. Member of the Secretariat of Registrar Asst. Prof. Dr. Yadu Gyawali facilitated the event.
