On the occasion of Constitution Day, Asoj 3, 2082 (September 19, 2025), several banks in Nepal will be operating with limited services to provide essential banking transactions.
Banks Open on Constitution Day
These include cash transactions, RTGS (Real-Time Gross Settlement), IPS (Interbank Payment System), Clearing, ECC (Electronic Cheque Clearing), and public debt management. This is a standard practice to ensure financial services remain accessible during public holidays. Here are the detailed schedules and services for each bank:
1. Prime Commercial Bank Ltd.
Prime Commercial Bank Ltd. will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, providing a longer window for its customers. The bank will offer essential services, including cash transactions, ECC/RTGS, and Clearing. This widespread availability across multiple provinces ensures that a large number of customers can access banking services.
- Koshi Province: Branches in Hanumandas Road, Bardibas, Itahari, Biratnagar (Traffic Chowk), Birtamod, and Three Pani will be open. This extensive coverage in the Koshi region highlights the bank’s commitment to serving customers in a key economic hub.
- Madhesh Province: Branches will be operational in Birgunj, Lahan, and Janakpur. These are significant commercial centers in the Madhesh region, and keeping these branches open will support local businesses and residents.
- Bagmati Province: A large number of branches in the Bagmati region will be open, including Kantipath, Naya Baneshwor, Thamel, Bhatbhateni, Koteshwor, Gongabu, New Road, Bafal Kalanki, Anamnagar, and Chaar Khaal Dilli Bazar. This concentration in and around the Kathmandu Valley is critical, as it is the country’s main financial and administrative center.
- Gandaki Province: The bank’s branches in Thankot, Lagnakhel, Jawalakhel, Kupundol, Hetauda, Bharatpur, Narayanghat, Tandi, and Banepa will be open. These branches span a mix of urban and semi-urban areas, catering to a diverse customer base.
- Lumbini Province: Branches in Baglung, Kushma, and Chipledhunga will be operational.
- Sudurpashchim Province: Branches in Lamki, Dhanagadhi, and Mahendranagar will be available for customers.
2. Global IME Bank Ltd.
Global IME Bank Ltd. will operate from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The bank will provide cash, ECC/RTGS, and foreign exchange services (subject to availability). This is a crucial service for travelers and businesses involved in international trade.
- Koshi Province: The Kanchanbari branch will be open.
- Madhesh Province: The Simra branch will be operational.
- Bagmati Province: Customers can visit the Balaju, Lagankhel, Kamalvinayak, and Maitidevi branches.
- Gandaki Province: The Pokhara branch will be open.
- Lumbini Province: The Bhairahawa branch will be available.
- Sudurpashchim Province: The Dhanagadhi branch will be open.
3. Everest Bank Limited
Everest Bank Limited will be open from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The bank will focus on key electronic banking services such as ECC, IPS, RTGS, and Clearing.
- Koshi Province: Biratnagar branch.
- Madhesh Province: Birgunj branch.
- Bagmati (Valley): Putalisadak branch.
- Lumbini Province: Sadbartha Nagar branch.
- Gandaki Province: Chipledhunga branch.
- Karnali Province: Surkhet branch.
- Sudurpashchim Province: Dhangadhi branch.
4. Sanima Bank Ltd.
Sanima Bank Ltd. will operate from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, providing a range of services including Cash, Cheque, RTGS, IPS, and Clearing.
- Bagmati (Valley): Branches will be open in Damak, Gongabu, Narayanghat, Hetauda, Puthalisadak, Naxal, Patan, and Bhaktapur.
- Koshi Province: Biratnagar and Itahari branches will be open.
- Madhesh Province: Inaruwa, Janakpur, and Lahan branches will be operational.
- Lumbini Province: Branches will be open in Butwal, Tikapur, and Mahendranagar.
- Gandaki Province: Pokhara, Chuchhepati, and Damouli branches will be available.
- Karnali Province: The Surkhet branch will be open.
- Sudurpashchim Province: Dhangadhi and Gai Ghat branches will be open.
5. NMB Bank Ltd.
NMB Bank Ltd. will be open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with varying hours for different branches. The bank will provide IPS, Clearing, and RTGS services.
- Koshi Province: Itahari (10:00 AM – 12:30 PM) and Biratnagar (Holiday Counter) (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM) will be open.
- Madhesh Province: Birgunj and Janakpur branches will be open from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
- Bagmati Province: Kumari Pati, Lions Chok (NGT) will be open from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, while the Kantipath (Holiday Counter) will operate from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
- Gandaki Province: The Chauthe branch will be open from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.
- Lumbini Province: The Traffic Chowk branch will be open from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
- Sudurpashchim Province: The Dhangadhi Chauraha branch will operate from 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, and the Mahendranagar (Holiday Counter) will be open from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
6. Prabhu Bank Ltd.
Prabhu Bank Ltd. will be open from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The bank will offer a wide range of services, including revenue collection, Cash, Cheque, RTGS, IPS, EFT, and Loan Collection. It will also operate 13 custom counters across major customs locations.
Branches: The main branches in Babarmahal (Kathmandu), Janakpur, Pokhara, Itahari, Kamaladi (Kathmandu), Birgunj, Lalitpur, Bhairahawa, Biratnagar, Bhaktapur, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadhi will be open.
7. Citizens Bank Ltd.
Citizens Bank Ltd. will be open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The bank will provide Cash, Cheque, RTGS, and IPS services.
- Branches (Inside Valley): Durbarmarg, Kathmandu.
- Branches (Outside Valley): Vidyapati Chowk, Janakpur.
8. Shangri-La Development Bank Ltd.
Shangri-La Development Bank Ltd. will operate from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, offering limited banking services, Cash, and ECC/RTGS.
- Koshi Province: Dharan and Sunsari branches.
- Madhesh Province: Jitpur, Bara branch.
- Bagmati Province: Branches in Naya Baneshwor, Chabahil, Hakim Chowk, and New Road, Kathmandu.
- Gandaki Province: Rani Pauwa and Zero Km branches in Kaski.
- Lumbini Province: Branches in Tribhuvan Chowk, Kohalpur, Khajura, and Ghorahi.
- Karnali Province: Surkhet and Botechaur branches.
- Sudurpashchim Province: Dhangadhi, Kailali branch.
9. Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Ltd.
Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Ltd. will be open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, providing limited banking services, including Cash, Cheque, RTGS, and IPS.
Branches: Birtamod (Koshi), Bardibas (Madhesh), Kuleshwor (Kathmandu Region), Narayanghat, Butwal, New Road Pokhara, and Attariya (Western Region).
These banking arrangements are made in accordance with the directives of the Nepal Rastra Bank to ensure that critical financial services remain available to the public on public holidays.
