Mayor Renu Dahal inaugurated the training at a formal event. She said the city is focusing not just on infrastructure but also on job creation. According to her, employment is a key need in the growing urban population.
Three-Month Training with Practical Focus
The training will run for three months, totaling 390 hours. It also includes skill testing at the end. The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security and the Ministry of Social Development of Bagmati Province are funding the program. Bharatpur Metropolitan City is handling coordination.
Mayor Dahal noted that this isn’t the first effort of its kind. In past years, the city provided training to over 4,000 individuals through ward-level programs. Now, officials plan to train another 1,700 youths soon. These future trainings will be based on market demand.
Aim to Reduce Foreign Migration
Deputy Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari also addressed the event. He said skill-based training can help reduce the number of youths seeking jobs abroad. He encouraged trainees to stay engaged and take full advantage of the program. Those who complete the training successfully will receive official certificates.
Chief Administrative Officer Laxmi Prasad Paudel also spoke at the event. He urged trainees to make good use of this opportunity. According to him, the government has been offering such programs to make citizens more self-reliant.
Training in Ten Job-Oriented Fields
The program includes training in ten different trades. These are computer repair, mobile repair, cooking, waiter service, beautician work, garment production, machine operation, fashion design, plumbing, caregiving, and housekeeping. These skills match the local and national job market.
Sandeśh Wagle, head of the employment section in Bharatpur, shared the details of the courses. He explained that the goal is to give practical, usable skills to young people who want to work or start their businesses.
Institutions Offering the Training
Several training centers affiliated with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) are delivering the courses. These include Nepal Entrepreneurs Development Consultancy Center, Kantipur Multipurpose Technical Institute, World Link Technical Training Institute, Navaratna Technical Training Institute, Brilliant Manpower Training Center, Simega Human Academy, and Asian School of Tourism and Hotel Management.
At the launch event, other speakers also expressed their support. Ram Chandra Lamsal from the National Youth Council and Shyamji Kandel from Kantipur Technical Institute both said the program could uplift the local youth and economy.
With this program, Bharatpur continues its efforts to empower youth and strengthen the city’s workforce. It is part of a larger vision to connect skills training with real employment opportunities.
