Overview of Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company Limited (BHDC)

Established on 2057/09/03 (2000 AD), BHDC is focused on advancing Nepal’s renewable energy sector. With an authorized share capital of NPR 2 billion, the company has developed the Rudi Khola Hydropower Project, comprising two cascade projects: Rudi-A (8.8 MW) and Rudi-B (6.6 MW). These projects collectively harness a total capacity of 15.4 MW, leveraging the power of Rudi Khola, a river situated within the Kaski and Lamjung districts of Nepal.

Project Details of Rudi-A and Rudi-B

Rudi-A (8.8 MW): Located in Mijuredanda VDC, Kaski district, this project was completed in 2018. It utilizes advanced hydropower technology and has become a model for sustainable energy production.
Rudi-B (6.6 MW): This run-of-river type project is upstream from Rudi-A, primarily in Pasgaun VDC, Lamjung district. It also benefits from the flow of Ligur Khola, collected from the right bank.

These projects are strategically positioned along the border of the Lamjung and Kaski districts. The geographical coordinates for Rudi-A are 84° 11′ 00″ E – 84° 13′ 00″ E longitude and 28° 13′ 51″ N – 28° 16′ 20″ N latitude. For Rudi-B, the coordinates are 84° 11′ 00″ E – 84° 13′ 00″ E longitude and 28° 16′ 20″ N – 28° 17′ 50″ N latitude.

Strategic Access and Infrastructure

Located approximately 200 km from Kathmandu, the Rudi Khola project site is accessible via Damauli, Rambazzar, and Pokhara. The newly constructed access track along the Rudi-A alignment extends up to the Rudi-B powerhouse, which facilitated the project’s construction.

BHDC’s Commitment to Renewable Energy

BHDC aims to enhance energy productivity and improve Nepal’s living standards by delivering affordable, sustainable energy. The company collaborates with renowned international firms like Toshiba Plant Systems & Services Corporation (India), a subsidiary of TPSC Tokyo, Japan, to ensure state-of-the-art technology in its hydropower projects. BHDC’s team consists of experienced professionals committed to expanding Nepal’s renewable energy sector.

Conclusion: A Promising Future for BHDC Shareholders

With the upcoming AGM, BHDC shareholders are presented with an opportunity to actively participate in the company’s growth and strategic decision-making process. Approval of the dividend and other proposals at the AGM will further BHDC’s mission of providing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to Nepal’s broader economic and social development.
