Nepal Telecom recently faced widespread billing issues affecting both postpaid and prepaid users. Starting Thursday morning, thousands of subscribers experienced an “outgoing call barrier” (one-way calls), preventing them from making outgoing calls despite having sufficient balance.

According to a senior official at Nepal Telecom, postpaid billing occurs on the 15th of every month. During this routine process, technical issues in the system caused some phones to be restricted to one-way calling. The issue originated in the online charging system (OCS), Nepal Telecom’s real-time system for monitoring and processing calls.
Official Response
Nepal Telecom Manager confirmed that work was underway to resolve the issue. He stated:
“Billing issues began around midnight. The problem has now been resolved, and additional measures are being taken to ensure smooth service.”
