Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student held by Hamas since October 2023, has been confirmed alive. However, his name is not on the latest list of hostages set for release today, according to The Times of Israel.

No Official Confirmation of the Release
Hamas kidnapped Bipin on October 7, 2023, from Kibbutz Alumim near Gaza. For months, his status remained unknown. A recent report confirmed that he is alive, easing fears.
Rumors on social media suggested he was set for release. However, Nepali officials have not confirmed this. Diplomatic missions abroad also lack verified information about his release. His name is not included in the latest list of hostages to be freed.
Hostages Still in Captivity
According to The Times of Israel, at least one Nepali, one Tanzanian, and eight Thai citizens remain in Hamas’ custody. The group has released some hostages under a ceasefire deal, but Bipin is not among them today.
As part of the agreement, Hamas will release three Israeli and five Thai hostages today. In return, Israel will free 110 Palestinian prisoners. Another round of releases is expected on Saturday, including three more Israeli hostages.
Diplomatic Efforts Continue
Mediators from the United States, Egypt, and Qatar are working to secure more hostage releases. Some captives have returned home, but Bipin remains in captivity.
Nepali authorities are closely monitoring the situation. They are in contact with international agencies. However, no timeline has been given for Bipin’s release.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel, taking 251 hostages, including foreigners. Since then, negotiations have led to the release of some captives. In response, Israel has freed 290 Palestinian prisoners.
