Bringing Math to Life 2025
Through joyful, fear-free learning activities, Embark UnMath aims to foster a genuine love for mathematics. In a significant collaboration, Embark UnMath recently partnered with Premier International School to celebrate Numeracy Week 2025, a dedicated period designed to help students rediscover math through dynamic experiential learning.
With the support and expertise of Embark UnMath, Premier International School successfully transformed its learning environment into a vibrant hub of creativity and exploration. Throughout Numeracy Week, students were given unique opportunities to engage with mathematical concepts in novel and meaningful ways, actively connecting numbers with their imagination and fostering deeper understanding.
Divesh Bathija, co-founder of Embark UnMath, emphasized the core philosophy behind their work: “At Embark UnMath, we firmly believe that math should be rooted in real-world thinking. Numeracy Week at Premier International School was far more than just a celebration; it represented a fundamental shift in how math is perceived, felt, and experienced by students. Through diverse activities such as storytelling, movement, design, and dialogue, learners were empowered to rediscover math not merely as recipients of knowledge, but as active creators.”
The week-long celebration featured a diverse and engaging array of activities tailored to make math accessible and exciting. These included:
Math Storytelling: Students creatively transformed numerical concepts into captivating narratives, demonstrating the power of imagination in understanding abstract ideas.
Board Game Designing: Participants applied mathematical thinking, strategy, and problem-solving skills to design their own board games, showcasing the practical application of theoretical concepts.
Math Relay Races: Combining physical activity with quick mental calculations, these races encouraged collaborative problem-solving and rapid mathematical recall.
Math Extempore Sessions: Learners were challenged to speak spontaneously and confidently about various mathematical ideas, fostering verbal articulation and critical thinking.
Embark UnMath is at the forefront of reshaping math education. By transforming abstract mathematical concepts into engaging, hands-on experiences, they are not only making learning fun but also cultivating a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject. Through their innovative approach to teaching and experiencing mathematics, Embark UnMath and its partners like Premier International School are opening the door to lifelong learning and igniting a genuine passion for mathematics in the next generation.
