Caricature Exhibition Begins virtually and can be watched at the comfort of your home

A 10-day virtual caricature exhibition on personalities contributing to different sectors of society has begun.

In the ongoing virtual caricature exhibition organized by the Cartoonist Club of Nepal and the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, more than 50 faces of social figures have been included in the caricature exhibition.

The interactive online gallery is accessible through the Internet and the public transport network, and the show features an excellent caricature of 40 artists.

Caricatures on different personalities who have contributed to the social sector have been published through the Nepal.com online gallery. The exhibition and caricature workshop opened by KK Karmacharya, Chancellor of Lalitakala Pragya Pratisthan comprises four dozen caricatures. The interactive exhibition features caricatures of three dozen caricaturists.

The exhibition features caricatures by KK Karmacharya, Madan Chitrakar, Mahabir Pun, Dr. Sanduk Ruit, journalist Kishor Nepal, writer Kumar Nagarkoti, actor Dayahang Rai, Dr. Govinda KC, singer Udit Narayan Jha, actor Sunil Thapa, Avin Shrestha, Sujan Chitrakar, Bipin Karki, Manoj Gajurel, Rajesh Hamal, Samragyee Rajyalakshmi Shah, Santosh Pant, Ravi Lamichhane, and others.

Caricature artists such as Abin Shrestha, Abhinas Malla, Ashok Man Singh, Binaya Rimal, Bikash Tamaku, Bhanu Bhattarai, Bhim Subba Tamang, Baman Chalise, Birochan Malla Bishwo Thapa, Deepak Gautam, Devendra Thumkeli, Dinesh Pradhan, Jeevan Rajopadhyay, Kamal Gosai, Keshab Raj Khanal, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Mahesh Bastakoti, NB Gurung, Nabin Naibo, Padma Ghale, Prakash Thapa and Rabi among others are put in the display.

A workshop was organized before the exhibition, followed by a competition. Among the participants of the competition, Subodh Pokhrel, Bishwa Thapa, and Prakash Thapa ‘Pratha’ won the first, second, and third prizes respectively.

According to Ramesh Nath Khanal, Head of Architecture and All-Creative Art Department of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, a caricature is an act of exaggerating someone’s face and has started in Nepal for many years.

The exhibition, which started on Poush 17, will continue till Poush 27.
