CFMOTO 450MT Pioneers 1000-Mile Endurance Ride: Nepal’s First Iron Butt Challenge Attempt
1st November 2025, Kathmandu
Nepal witnessed a landmark moment in its motorcycling scene as Pramod Shrestha and Swapan Pradhan became the first riders to officially attempt the globally recognized Iron Butt Challenge Saddlesore 1000, a globally recognized endurance ride covering 1,000 miles (1,609 km) within 24 hours.
CFMOTO 450MT Pioneers 1000-Mile
The challenge, known for its extreme endurance and meticulous planning, was undertaken on two CFMOTO machines: the CFMOTO 450 MT and the CFMOTO 450 NK.
The duo set off with meticulous planning and high spirits, determined to complete what is known as one of the toughest endurance rides in the motorcycling world.
However, unfavorable weather conditions along critical stretches forced them to call off the ride for safety reasons. Although the challenge could not be completed this time, the attempt itself stands as a pioneering effort that has set the stage for Nepal’s entry into the global endurance riding community.
This feat not only puts Nepal on the global map of endurance motorcycling but also sets a precedent for aspiring riders and adventure seekers in the region. The completion of this challenge is expected to inspire more Nepalese riders to participate in international-standard endurance rides and promote motorcycle tourism across the country
Contrasting Machines, United Performance
The choice of motorcycles added a unique dynamic to the challenge. Pramod and Swapan chose two contrasting CFMOTO motorcycles: the CFMOTO 450 MT and the CFMOTO 450 NK.
The CFMOTO 450 MT, an adventure tourer, was purpose-built for endurance. Its upright riding position, plush suspension, and wind protection made it a comfortable and capable companion across Nepal’s diverse and unpredictable terrain.
In contrast, the CFMOTO 450 NK, a street-naked performance machine, is designed primarily for urban and spirited riding. Yet, it held its ground impressively on long stretches, showcasing smooth power delivery, stability, and remarkable adaptability beyond its segment.
Both motorcycles delivered exceptional performance, proving that CFMOTO machines are not only versatile but also ready to take on challenges that demand both reliability and endurance.
Throughout the ride, Shrestha and Pradhan carried a strong message: “Nepal is ready and open for motorcycle adventure sports.” They emphasized that such initiatives are not only about thrill and endurance but also about uniting Nepalese people from all regions and backgrounds.
“This is not just a personal achievement, it’s a statement. Nepal has the landscape, the spirit, and the heart for adventure motorcycling. We want the world to see that,” said Mr. Shrestha.
Team Effort and Gratitude
Without the support of CF MOTO Nepal & Locomo, Liqui Molly Nepal, and Petronas Sprinta Nepal, this journey would not have been possible:
CFMOTO Nepal
The team extends sincere appreciation to CFMOTO Nepal for their unwavering belief in the vision and for supporting the mission with two exceptional machines, the CFMOTO 450MT & CFMOTO 450NK.
The 450MT, designed for true adventure touring, impressed with its robust suspension, superior handling, and adaptability across Nepal’s diverse terrains, standing out as a benchmark for adventure motorcycles in the country.
The 450NK, with its agile performance and sporty character, proved to be a dependable partner on long stretches and demanding routes. CFMOTO’s support not only enabled this challenging endeavor but also reinforced their growing influence in shaping Nepal’s adventure motorcycling culture.
LOCOMO Nepal
Special thanks to LOCOMO Nepal for their outstanding support throughout the journey. Their expertise in ride documentation, route coordination, and logistics was key to ensuring the challenge ran with precision and authenticity, adding immense value to the entire initiative.
The LOCOMO GPS provided navigation support, bike security, group safety, post post-ride analytics all in one package that allowed for a hassle-free ride. During the challenge, when riders went through unfamiliar terrain or split routes, being able to visualize in real time location through “RideCrue” helped with navigation, cleared the confusion, and helped coordination amongst the riders. Amongst other features, “SafetyNet” allowed riders to share their live location with family members when traveling, which is especially helpful for long rides or when riding late or experiencing unexpected delays. Features like Motion sensor, Device-tamper sensor, and E-lock gave extra protection.
Not to forget, the Trip Log allowed the riders to check distance traveled, routes taken, engine running hours, average/maximum speed, etc.
In short, the technical features of LOCOMO allowed the riders to complete the challenge without having to worry about theft or losing track of one another, and therefore, we could focus more on riding strategy and performance, and richer insights afterward.
LIQUIMOLY
The team also expresses gratitude to LIQUIMOLY for supplying premium, high-performance lubricants that ensured consistent engine protection and efficiency throughout the ride. Their products delivered optimal performance in varying weather and terrain conditions, contributing to the reliability and endurance of both motorcycles during this demanding challenge.
Petronas Sprinta Nepal
A heartfelt thank you to Petronas Lubricants Nepal for their generous support and belief in my journey to take on the iconic and globally recognized Iron Butt Challenge Saddlesore 1000. Your sponsorship not only fueled this ambitious attempt but also symbolized the spirit of endurance, innovation, and resilience that defines both riders and the Petronas Sprinta brand.

Looking Forward
While this first attempt at the Iron Butt Challenge in Nepal was cut short by circumstances beyond control, it represents much more than just an unfinished ride. It symbolizes determination, pioneering spirit, and the growing passion of Nepali riders to take on global challenges.
Pramod Shrestha and Swapan Pradhan’s journey has opened the door for future endurance riding events in Nepal, inspiring a new wave of riders to test their limits and put Nepal on the global endurance riding map.
