19th August 2025, Kathmandu
The NADA Auto Show 2025 has once again become a hotbed for exciting new vehicle launches, but few have generated as much buzz as the Changan Lumin EV. MAW Vriddhi Autocorp, the official distributor of Changan for Nepal, has officially launched the city car, setting a new standard for affordability in the country’s rapidly growing electric vehicle market.

With an introductory price of just NPR 22.99 lakhs, the Lumin EV is poised to make electric mobility accessible to a wider audience than ever before, challenging the market dominance of its competitors.
The Changan Lumin is a compact and stylish city car that packs a surprising punch in terms of features and performance. Built on the brand’s modular EPA0 platform, a dedicated pure electric platform, the Lumin offers a solid foundation for its efficient powertrain.
It is equipped with a 35 kW motor that provides ample power for urban commutes, making it an ideal choice for navigating crowded city streets. The vehicle is available in two variants, each with a different battery pack to suit varying needs and budgets.
Customers can choose between a 17.65 kWh and a larger 28.08 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The smaller battery variant offers a practical driving range of 205 km, which is more than sufficient for daily city use.
For those with longer commutes or who experience range anxiety, the larger battery variant provides an impressive range of up to 301 km on a single charge. This range, combined with its compact size, makes the Lumin a versatile vehicle that can handle both urban errands and occasional out-of-town trips.
One of the most notable features of the Changan Lumin EV is its support for DC fast charging, a convenience feature not always found in this price segment. With a DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 30% to 80% in just 35 minutes, significantly reducing charging time and making long-distance travel more feasible. The car also features a sleek and modern design with a stylish cabin.
The interior is equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument screen and a prominent 10.25-inch infotainment unit that serves as the central hub for vehicle controls and entertainment. The addition of a voice assistant and colorful interior accents adds a touch of personality and modern appeal to the cabin.
Other notable features include a radio, built-in navigation, smartphone interface connectivity, and even adaptive cruise control, a feature that is typically found in higher-end vehicles. These advanced features, combined with its attractive price point, make the Changan Lumin a compelling value proposition.
It directly competes with other budget-friendly EVs in Nepal, such as the MG Comet EV, BYD Atto 1 (formerly Seagull), and Kaiyi e-Qute. However, its competitive pricing and robust feature set position it as a strong contender to become the market leader in the entry-level EV segment.
For MAW Vriddhi, the launch of the Changan Lumin EV at NADA 2025 is a strategic move to capitalize on the growing demand for affordable and sustainable transportation solutions.
By offering a vehicle that is not only budget-friendly but also equipped with modern technology and a respectable driving range, the company is catering to a wide range of consumers, from young professionals to small families.
The Changan Lumin’s debut at the auto show is a clear sign of the evolving automotive landscape in Nepal, where electric vehicles are no longer just a niche market but are becoming a viable and attractive option for the masses.
