Citizens Bank Nepal: Madhesh Tree Plantation, First Virtual Credit Card Launch & Comprehensive CSR

Embracing the theme “Beat the Plastic”, Citizens Bank conducted a large-scale tree plantation program in Dhanusha, Madhesh Province, on Monday, 26th Jestha 2082 (June 9, 2025), under its corporate social responsibility to mitigate the impacts of growing climate change by conserving and promoting essential trees and vegetation.

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2025, the bank planted over 100 saplings of various species at Ward No. 13, Mani Mandap, Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City, completing a grand plantation initiative. As part of its CSR, the bank has previously organized health camps in various parts of the country and extended support to community schools and religious sites.

Recently, Citizens Bank, winner of the prestigious “Bank of the Year 2024” award, launched Nepal’s first “Citizens FonePay Credit Card” (Virtual Credit Card) in partnership with FonePay. Through its mobile banking app, customers can now apply for shares and access CRN services.

It has also introduced cross-bank teller services, allowing customers of other banks to withdraw cash by scanning Citizens Bank’s QR at its branches. Citizens Bank International Limited is currently delivering modern banking services to over 1.9 million customers through 200 branches, 168 ATMs, 3 extension counters, and 74 branchless banking units across 61 districts of Nepal.
