A Growing Network
Citizens Bank started its journey on 20 April 2007, as the 20th commercial bank in Nepal. Since then, it has steadily expanded across the country. Today, the bank serves over 1.879 million customers through a network of 200 branches. Each province has a dedicated office operating from its building.
As of the third quarter of the current fiscal year, the bank has collected NPR 202 billion in deposits and issued NPR 173 billion in loans.
Nationwide Prabhat Pheri and Blood Donation
To mark the anniversary, Citizens Bank organized a morning procession (Prabhat Pheri) in all seven provinces. More than 921 employees took part. The bank believes such events help raise financial awareness in the community.
Alongside this, a blood donation campaign was held. Citizens Bank collaborated with the Nepal Red Cross Society and Himal Hospital. A total of 913 donors from 33 branches participated. The event aimed to support the national blood supply and promote the message, “Blood Donation is Life Donation.”
Launch of Cross Bank Teller QR
Citizens Bank introduced Nepal’s first Cross Bank Teller QR service. This feature allows customers from other banks to withdraw cash at any Citizens Bank branch. Users simply scan the QR code with their own bank’s mobile app. The bank believes this will make cash withdrawals faster, simpler, and more secure.
It’s part of the bank’s commitment to move from “Brick Banking to Click Banking.”
Tap & Pay for Offline Transactions
The bank also launched a Tap & Pay feature for its mobile banking users. With this tool, customers can make payments of up to NPR 5,000 even when offline. This improves access for users in remote areas or during internet disruptions.
Freelancer Saving Account Now Available
In a move to support Nepal’s growing freelance community, the bank has launched the ‘Citizens Freelancer Saving Account.’ It promotes the idea of “Save Local, Earn Global.”
This special account allows deposits in both Nepali Rupees and US Dollars. Freelancers can benefit from a high interest rate and several free services. These include:
Mobile and internet banking
Debit card and demat account
OPD service worth NPR 5,000
Health and accidental death insurance up to NPR 25,000
Looking Ahead
Citizens Bank thanked its customers for their continued support over the past 18 years. The bank promised to keep offering faster, easier, and safer banking experiences using the latest technology.
As it enters its 19th year, Citizens Bank aims to lead digital transformation in Nepal’s financial sector.
