French carmaker Citroen has launched bookings for its new coupe SUV, the Basalt, in India.

The introductory price is set at INR 7.99 lakhs, with bookings open until October 31. To secure this price, a booking fee of 11,000 baht is required.
Competitive Pricing and Dimensions
The Citroen Basalt stands out with its competitive pricing, approximately 3 lakhs lower than other 4.3-meter SUVs. It measures 4352 mm in length, 1765 mm in width, and 1593 mm in height, and offers a ground clearance of 180 mm and a boot space of 470 litres.
Exterior Design
The Basalt features a distinctive dual-part grille, LED projector headlamps with a 3D effect, and signature LED daytime running lights. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and a rear design that includes halogen taillamps with a 3D effect and a dual-tone bumper.
Colour options include five monotone choices—Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, and Garnet Red—as well as a contrasting black roof option available in red and white.
Interior Features
Inside, the Basalt boasts a gloss black dashboard with a textured surface, a digital HVAC panel, and a spacious front armrest with storage. It includes a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, a 7-inch all-digital instrument cluster, and a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger. For safety, the SUV is equipped with 6 airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, and tire pressure monitoring.
Engine and Powertrain
The Citroen Basalt is available with two engine options: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine delivering 82 horsepower and 115 Nm of torque, and a turbo petrol engine producing 110 horsepower. The naturally aspirated engine features a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo engine comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 205 Nm torque converter automatic gearbox. Fuel efficiency is rated at 18 km/l for the naturally aspirated engine and 18.7 km/l for the turbo variant.
Market Competition
The Basalt will compete with popular models such as the Tata Curve, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate in the Indian market.
